I'm not convinced that Kicili or Bryant did anything wrong, either. Kicili basically gets his season ruined for playing on a team a couple years ago in which one of the players was paid. That is ridiculous and had absolutely nothing to do with Kicili. [Reply]

Exactly. Bryant and Kilici were punished for "violations" that didn't benefit either of them. Wall profited from his violation. [Reply]

with the way the NCAA handles these things, players are just going to go to europe instead of playing in college. for instance, the dez bryant situation. he cant play the rest of the year because he talked to someone, yeah he lied about it to NCAA people, but i'm sure he was scared/intimidated, hell i would have been too. meanwhile wall is being profited and gets a game suspension. its laughable. can anyone of you that keeps saying Wall "profited" show me how he did that? Wall DID NOT DO ANYTHING WRONG! What is so hard to understand about that? What Wall's AAU coach did was the same thing that hundreds of coaches in AAU ball do for kids every year. He just happened to be too stupid to not cancel his agent license before doing so. All Wall did was play basketball and assume Clifton (AAU coach)) knew what he was doing. He didn't and NOW Wall has to pay for it. Yes, WALL HAS TO PAY FOR IT. That means WALL DID NOTHING WRONG YET STILL HAS TO PAY BACK ALMOST $800 AND SIT OUT 2 GAMES. That may not seem like much, but it is more than what should have happened because WALL NEVER DID ANYTHING WRONG.

Now that is not to say that I think any other kid's punishment is correct. In fact, knowing the NCAA I am sure it is all whacked out. But stop trying to drag Wall into the mud for doing nothing. He is innocent in this. If you can't understand or see that then I don't know what more to tell you. [Reply]

How can you possibly say he didn't profit? He was paid $800. Sure he has to pay it back, but I'm pretty sure any college freshman would be happy to have an interest-free $800 loan. And come on, I'm sure Wall himself isn't actually paying the $800 back. [Reply]

Well, boo hoo, Wall won't be able to play against Miami (OH) or Morehead State. Kentucky might lose without Wall considering the traditional powerhouses the Eagles and Redhawks are. Two games is nothing. I don't really know too much about the situation and whether Wall really did anything wrong, but two games is meaningless. Wall is suspended against Miami (OH) and Morehead State. If you all are worried that you might lose without him agaisnt those teams, then the Wildcats are vastly overrated.

WVU's Kicili is suspended for 20 games and the first portion of the Big East schedule. He did not profit and did not do anything wrong. He got screwed.

Fortunately, Wall plays for Kentucky, so he got off relatively easily. The NCAA knows who the cash cows are and likes to keep them happy, while lower divisional schools get hammered for violations. [Reply]

He is paying the money back himself. If he profit you don't pay money back. And again, he is one of hundreds every year that gets help from their AAU coach for unofficial visits. [Reply]

You are right, 2 meaningless games is nothing and no we aren't about losing them. And while I agree that UK is a cash cow for the ncaa, UK is always under scrutiny and is always getting the wrong end of the deal. This time they didn't and they shouldn't have.

As far as Kicli goes, I agree it is ridiculous. As are most of the rules that the ncaa has and is biased in their findings...Duke for instance.

I also can understand the thought of a low to mid major not getting the same treatment from the NCAA. But that is a problem with the ncaa, not UK and not Wall. Wall got off easy and I am not complaining about that, I was only saying he got punished for doing nothing wrong no matter how severe. [Reply]

Good luck getting an interest-free $800 loan as a high school senior not named John Wall. He profited.

Is it a huge violation? Of course not. And we agree that Kilici got screwed. Cool. [Reply]
