Well, after seeing the fun and interesting head coach dynasties (49ers/'phins, KC), I decided to try the game. That, along with its cheap price ($7.00 lol) and the excitement around the entry draft got me into it.
I decided to take over my home team, the Detroit Lions. Yes, there already is a Lions one, but
A. He simmed the first season.
B. He knows what he's doing
C. He updates sporadically (yes, I want to see more!)
Well, to start things off with a bang, I decided to resign none of my pending free agents to clear up roster space. Then during free agency, I made 3 splashes:
Nnamdi Asomuga (CB): 7.5 million against the cap
Eugene Wilson (FS): 4.2 M
Jeff Faine (C): 4.2 M
Asomuga is a beast, and although he is expensive, my secondary needed a boost. For the same reason I signed Wilson. Faine was signed because he is young, and there were no good centers in the 08' entry draft.

I had a ton of draft needs: I need a running back, the offensive line was crap, along with the defensive line (now a 3-4), the linebackers and I needed a SS and TEs. I figured Kitna could hold out for another year.
I had all my picks, plus an extra 3rd from the Rogers deal (which was crap).
Draft 2nd (45): Claias Campbell (RE)
3rd (72): Jamaal Charles (RB)
3rd (76): Jermaiah Finley (TE)
3rd (78): Dre Moore (DT)
4th (106): C. Steiz (SS)
4th (123): T. Hills (LT)
5th (133): A. Woodston (Steal of the draft, he dropped so much) (QB)
5th (153): D. Hale (LG)
7th (201): J. Lemon (MLB)
7th (204): A. Crummy (RG)
7th (211); M. Peterson (TE)
I traded out of the first round for a second, third and seventh rounder. The thing is, nobody remembers that the Lions went 7-9 the year prior. This left me in no-mans land pick wise in the first round: to low to get a stud, and to high to get the players I wanted. I traded down again in the second, for a fourth, a fifth and Vince Manuani, a LG with an overall of 80. I traded up a bit in the third round, giving up some picks next year. I did the same thing in the fifth round. I traded down in the sixth for a seventh and one next year (only offer). Only one player I wanted (another MLB) was poached from me. [Reply]

I was able to make one deal, Dwight Smith for a 5th and 6th. There were no takers on the rest of the players on the block, and I need Linebackers line no tomorrow. I managed to sign all the draftees except for the MLB on my first try (bugger). I made some post draft acquisitions as well:
K. Jones (RB) for 1 million (85 overall)
D. Kreider (FB) for 1 million (blocker, 83 overall)
along with 3 other fillers guys I don't remember.
Undrafted Players Z. Bowman (CB)
D. Redovich
D. Lang
D. Bryant
A. Serna (K)

Thanks a lot.
I'm using the pat's offense, cause I like to throw (with a bit of running) and their 3-4 defense.

Cambell and Moore fit that system very well
