High profile names will not sell a boxing if the game is garbage! Fight Night Champion didn't sell well because word of mouth, in the gaming industry this can help or destroy a game.

If some company did a great boxing with fantastic gameplay and depth in every mode, it will sell. It will sell big numbers! They wouldn't even need big names or real boxers at all; just a very deep customization mode.

*Guaranteed*

Now I have to retract my statement after review of your wording and further analysis. Floyd's name could make a slightly better than mediocre game successful. He's that popular.

Of course that's not what either of us want.

I apologize for the overstatement and I'm prone to use images.
Lol! I hear ya

Look, the reason I mention Mayweather is this: Of course, as hardcore gamers we want a great-playing and realistic-playing game. But regardless, that game has to SELL and SELL WELL if there's any hope of future yearly or bi-yearly installments. There's a pretty big world out there outside of Operation Sports forums or any other hardcore sportsgaming/boxing forums. And I'd wager that world would be more prone to buy "Mayweather Championship Boxing" than "Championship Boxing 2k14" without having dissected every bit of pre-launch media as we would here on OS.

Take that awesome game...and name it Awesome Boxing ...or Mayweather Awesome Boxing...which one sells more units?

Even NBA2k went out and got Jordan...and just recently attached Jay-Z to the title. NBA2k is a great-playing game...that hasn't stopped them from attaching big names, why? because they want to sell as many units as possible...and they understand what the Jay-Z brand will do for their product..."NBA2k13 - Executive produced by Jay-Z"

I disagree. The social media will kill a game. I'm a part of every social media, game, and boxing site. The majority of fans on these sites didn't like Fight Night Champion and tore into it's faults and lack of true boxing elements.

see my response to your other post

You seem to be under the impression that I'm advocating game sells before gameplay if thats the case then you're completely wrong.

Very true. Mike Tyson boxing didn't sell very well because the gameplay stunk.
Although, it looked like it had a pretty decent career/training module to it.
