Jaybee, I feel this loss will really tell us what he is made of. Not really sure why his rep should take a hit. When two good boxers go at, one has to lose. I am aware people will say he was exposed and he was never good; I say to them enjoy boxing.

If he comes back from this it will be impressive. I didn't see the fight but it appears he was brutalized.
Spoiler

EDIT: Just saw the entire fight on YouTube. Froch just overpowered Bute. Great finish in the 5th round, with Froch punching through gloves.

I will admit I'm one of Bute's "haters". Andrade KOed him the first time. That said I was impressed with him going to Froch's backyard. He took a beating in round 3 and to make it out of round 3 impressed me a lot. Hope the second fight is as good or better than this one. I want to see. Bute fight Ward if he wins the rematch.

Otherwise let Ward clean up the division with another fight with Froch.

Re: Bute vs Froch, who ya got and why?

WOW!! FROCH SAID THIS!!:

Personally I don't think Bute will want the rematch because as a fighter, I looked into his eyes and after round three I saw something drain from him. Something only a fighter can see.'I don't think he's going to want to fight again, let alone fight me again. Honestly.

'He came here unbeaten and got absolutely, devastatingly beaten. That doesn't happen often to top-level fighters.

'That is a beating, the whupping of all whuppings. I've not seen it back yet. I'm not bragging. I don't want to hurt anybody, I'm not proud of hurting people but that's what I'm in the ring to do. If the boot was on the other foot, you know what would happen.

'That was some performance by me - and I think it was a career-ending performance. You never know. I don't know what he's made of, so we'll see.'

Are there any Bute fans in this forum who are a little pissed off?

Ehh Froch just won a huge fight at home. I will forgive him some hyperbole post fight. Any fighter who takes a beating like the one Bute took in the 3rd would probably have the same "look" It's called being out on your feet.

Feel bad Froch because this is his ceiling. He can't touch Ward so he is a "champion" but is and will be the second best fighter at super middleweight until Ward goes up or down (which I doubt will ever happen unless Martinez stays down).

Yeah, a performance like that in front of the home crowd would pump you up a bit.

Ward's the man right now. I didn't realize that Chad Dawson's going down to 168 to fight for Andre's two super middleweight crowns. (September 8th).

A LOT of talent at 168-my favorite division.

If his ceiling is being one of the best fighters in the world, I agree.

Re: Bute vs Froch, who ya got and why?

You left out the rest of my post about his ceiling. Which is the most important part. Yeah, he is one of the best in the world, but he isn't the best in his division. He is a top super-welterweight, but is miles (and miles) behind Ward. He is a good fighter, but he isn't a PPV draw, can't be the outright best in his division unless Ward leaves and for as good as he looked against Bute, he looked just as horrid against Ward.

Also, Dawson coming down to 168 (if it is for more than one fight, and given the talent there it should be.) IMO makes Froch the 3rd best fighter in that division. So while you say best in the world, I won't argue it, but he isn't CLOSE to being the best in his own division.

Re: Bute vs Froch, who ya got and why?

I year ya'. No real disagreement, except we really don't know where Dawson stands among the 168 crowd yet.

You're right about Froch and PPV. I'm surprised because he should be getting at least a decent portion of the financial success of fellow UKers Hatton and Calzage. The truth is Showtime passed on this fight.

I think the "and miles" in parenthesis is too much. Two judges had it 115-113 for Ward............of course they were drunk.

I realize super-welterweight is a typo.
