Boxing>Fight Night Round 4 Impressions

A haymaker cross would have been insanely easy to abuse. I would have like to have seen the cross treated like a hook or an upper, though, in regards to power.

Some things I'm not liking:

In legacy mode, you can schedule a fight any time. I think you should get offered more fights.

There should be "passive" training like in Boxer's Road. In round 4, you'll have a two-week training camp with only one training session.

You can't build stats as an amateur. This isn't realistic. They really might as well start you as a pro.

Why no trainers?

The bob and weave is overpowered now that they've given it the counter window. It makes it tough to put a multiple jab on a shorter guy coming in without constant fear of getting countered into unconsciousness. [Reply]

Can you tell any difference between the demo and the retail version when it comes to jabs and straights, do they feel like they have more pop? On the EA board they specifically said they tunned the straights, but didn't say anything about the jab. Does the jab feel any different with a guy like L. Lewis who threw a hard jab? [Reply]

I don't think a haymaker cross would be easier to abuse than a haymaker hook or UC.....

don't you think it's messed up though that every single fighter's most powerful punch is either the hook/UC?

just wrong..... [Reply]

What is the purpose of having a best punch? I don't feel however that a boxer's best punch is necessarily their most powerful. Ali's best punch was his jab, but u can't tell me his jab was stronger than his uppercut. [Reply]

He isn't saying that there best punch isn't in the game he is saying that the Left/Right Cross isn't powerful enough in the game. And that the cross is a stable punch for fighters who like to fight outside. I agree with him in the sense that the Cross is a major punch in boxing and should be portrayed in this game since they say it is "SIM"...... [Reply]

from what Ive notice its there go to punch not really sure if it has any other benefits like added power or animation however I did see a cross animation that Hatton didnt have while using Pac Man(assuming he has the str8 as his best punch) [Reply]

A haymaker cross would be easy to exploit because of the speed it would come out at. I suppose they could make it a chopping right to compensate, but really, a better solution would be to simply give the cross more power.

Having said that, the nature of a hook or upper makes it a more powerful punch. Best punch =/= most powerful punch. [Reply]

I agree that a person's best isn't the most powerful like a poster alluded up top about Ali's jab. You can say by nature a hook's movement will generate more power, but not all fighter's hook techniques are created equal. that's why it's wrong to have Every single fighter's most powerful punch a hook or UC in the game.

you telling me Lewis' most damaging punch isn't his cross? or Klitschko's? [Reply]

The jab feels like it has more pop but not so much the cross.
And Phillyfan, I made a mistake when I said that the power sliders only affected the hook and uppercuts. What I meant to say was, while increasing the power slider will help the cross, it will also make the hook and uppercut more powerful as well.
It's too bad they don't have separate sliders for each kind of punch. The cross needs a lot more umph to it. [Reply]
