I suppose the rabid fans kinda turn me off of that game as well. The way some people talk it sounds like if you put the game in your pants it does "magic"...

Congrats on winning though!
Hmmm, you mentioned putting something in your pants and a president all in the same weak analogy attempt. Maybe your analogy would be stronger if you had used a different president, eh?

EA could sue over this.
How and Why?
2k Share would be using licensed logos and team colors on a large scale... enough that they'd be told "no." So the NFL customization would become a viral thing again like it has been with 2k5.

I really liked 2k5 and AT THE TIME there wasn't another football game like it, but it had it's flaws and I don't think is the GOAT of Console Sports games. It had great gameplay, but it was also flawed in some departments as well.

Not a strong analogy, got the "died before their time" bit. I don't see that as the point. You have to look at the amount of people that still play this game either as their main football game or occasionally. What 2k5 did was great, it has stood up against time. I don't know of many other games that can do that.

Not a surprise given no console sports game has come close to what VC achieved with NFL 2K5.

I figure EA will own TT before christmas this year anyways, so none of the future dreams matter. EA wants them to once and for all shut down the 2k annoyance. EA would get the ability to use the MLB license back, end the NBA and NHL 2k franchises, and keep a potentially improved APF from coming out.

People still like nfl2k5 because it's a great game if you're the right kind of player for it. Plus it was also the peak of football gaming competition. Football games still have not got to the level NFL2k and Madden were at during that time. Now the whole sports genre is pretty messed up with CH2k being canceled, MLB restricted to one choice on the 360, both companies getting lazy and putting out flawed exclusive license games, and EA trying to buy 2k and Take Two.

you had me nodding right up until the part about CH 2k8 lol.

all of this aside and moving forward, I don't get the fascination with this game. or perhaps I don't get the level of fascination with this game to the point a sizable group of people here think its the greatest game ever made.

all measures out there say the game was good but not great. it got an 82 on metacritic (compared to high 80s for NHL and skate). the OS review gave it a 7 (lower than last years version). even the OS reader score only gave it an 8.5 (lower than last years version), lower than skate, NHL 08, MLB The Show 07, OOTPB, FIFA, NCAA Football and tied with NHL 2k8 JUST THIS YEAR.

i just don't get it lol.

NFL 2k5 I can at least rationalize. It was a well received and reviewed game (OS 10 - reader score 9 - metacritic between 92 and 90) that many in the industry feel is the benchmark for football games to this day (despite it having some flaws). and it is also a game that people continue to play regularly despite next-gen versions being out there.

Maybe you should give it a play for a few weeks
