MVP Baseball '05 actually has a stronger following the 2K5.

MVP 05 for the PC. The PC version of any game will always be easier to mod, and it's safe to say that MVP was the last major baseball game on that platform. PC Gamers now will also likely start playing Madden 08, simply because that's the last release of a football game for them. That doesn't mean that Madden 08 is a great game.

Meanwhile, on the Xbox and 360 we've had numerous incarnations of the Madden NFL series since 2K5. The fact that people like Finn put the time into hacking the Xbox file format just shows how dedicated the fanbase is. Even after the graphics have been grossly surpassed by the likes of EA Sports, the 2K5 fanbase still stays strong to an old game. Really, there's no comparison.

Here's my, unscientific, completely unresearched kneejerk opinion: 2k and EA Sports have about 7.3 trillion times the exposure of any of the other brands in the contest (I haven't seen a Punch Out commercial in quite some time). Fewer people are going to actively try to sabotage 2k's chances, so, much like the Western Conference, the Lakers get talked about until they play the Celtics and TCIKG breaks Kobe in half. Er . . . *looks at what he's written so far, takes looong drink* . . . whatever. Madden is the Kobe Bryant of the video game world, aaaand . . . *passes out on keyboard*

I had a point, but I think it's gone now.
