I've played over a dozen games in both...and it really is a great season, both have stepped up.
But 2K10 is my game of choice...IMO it's far, far more realistic.
I'll expand on this more over the next few days. I'm going to write up a purelybasketball fundamentals look at the games. IMO 2K10 wins these aspects hands down.
Dominate guys initating the offense...rebounding...blocks...pick and rolls...fouls...earning your wins at the free throw line...etc etc etc. 2K wins all of those aspects easily.
Live is a hell of a lot of fun...but the fundamentals are missing.

More later.
We must not be playing the same games... 2K isn't even close to real basketball IMO

I like the controls in live but i am a franchise type of cat. Now i kno 2k has the better association but that doesnt mean live's dynasty blows. So can any franchise guys tell me how they feel about it in live? thanks

I hate these threads... There's like 14 different variations of this thread all over the basketball forums for Live and 2k...

Couldn't agree more. At the end of a game, 2k's stats and shot charts are embarrassingly far from real life. Meanwhile, I have yet to play a game of Live without a realistic result.
The cause and effect in 2k is pure nonsense. Alley oops are insane. the window for contesting a shot is ridiculously small, and I could take that, except the CPU doesn't even get within that window on My Player. 2k just doesn't make sense when it comes to shot success. The rebounding and post up are great, but when there are so many nonesense elements, they don't add up to a realistic game at all.

I've had the CPU alley opp on me twice in four games since sliders. Not really "insane".

Can't use sliders in My Player. Guess people playing that mode, or online ranked games are just SOL, eh?
Not to mention--for some reason, the game cloned me. The framerate shudders horribly when people are under the basket. My last game was 174-167(nice, 2k). It's not just the number of alleys, but the situations. Often when they start to throw the alley, there is no one in sight. Then they go into a rotten canimation that takes them from the 3pt line to the rim while people helplessly try to jump at the ball. So many contested jumpers go in...without a shot block or perfect contest, there is no logic to the shot success in this game. It's not about everything going in, or even percentages(which range from high to extreme). It's about looking at someone take a shot and saying "that's a bad shot" and constantly seeing it go in.
I Live, whether the percentages are high or low, the good shots tend to go in, and the bad shots tend to miss. Live seems to know exactly when a contested fadeaway should go in, and when it should miss. They could use some tuning on layup success, but it's the closest to "right" I've seen in a game.
I guess that's why I prefer Live. I can trust it. And because the PIP has a solid logic to it, I can work inside out without feeling guilty, or feeling obligated to shoot jumpers because going inside is too easy. In Live, I shoot midrange jumpers because the CPU takes the inside game away. Because the jumpshooting/dribble penetration game works so well, many of the teams are more fun to use.

I havent had near the amount of frustration in 2k as I have with Live...2k is my game of choice even though I enjoy them both at times...
Live has nailed the simulation stats, but it seems those %'s run the game whether than you determining the outcome at times...Its like by any means necessary to maintain that balance...fadeaway 3's and all
If simulation is playing a pre determined match up plugging in your input here in there, I guess im not as big as a sim gamer as I thought. I want to be in complete control of the game...I want to deflect the ball on command on D, use my speed to get by my defender and finish, run fast breaks...not be sucked into animations repeatedley when I have my man beat to maintain the proper % in the paint, or give the illusion of good team D.
Those things are just as important to basketball as mid range jumpers...theres a reason they say its a lost art lol. The game isnt all mid range jumpers and low PIP...I agree wit CV, the game is missing funamentals IMO
