Re: Taking the Big East By [Red] Storm - CH2k9

Final Day of Early Recruiting Period, Richards Commits!
Sherman Richards chooses St. John's as his home for the next four years.

12/9/08 - On the final day that high school seniors could sign in the early recruiting period, St. John's University got their most prized prospect to sign his letter of intent to play for the Red Storm. Sherman Richards, shooting guard from Pittsburgh, PA, will be the top prospect of SJU's recruiting class this season.

Richards is a bit on the small side to play shooting guard in the Big East, but his quickness should be an equalizer on the floor. His got a quick first step and his hands are as fast as lightning, so generating steals and run-outs will be a huge part of his game (hopefully).

Sherman Richards will come off the bench next season, but could carve out a spot in the starting lineup by the beginning of his sophomore season. Now the question is who will join him in SJU's recruiting class this season.

Tough to lose the 7 footer to Delaware, but sounds like Sherman will be a solid player for you.

Yeah, no kidding. I knew I should have saved that phone call until the end of the week.

the Big East conference schedule rears its ugly head? First game of season
where all players on the roster saw some floor time.

Re: Taking the Big East By [Red] Storm - CH2k9

Two New Targets on the Recruiting Trail
Looking to replace Christian, SJU add's two centers to recruiting board.

After losing out on Devin Christian's services to Delaware, Norm Roberts adds two new big man prospects to their recruiting search in order to find a big man to man the middle of the floor.

Eni Lukasiak (6'10", 213 lbs.) of Santa Ana, CA wasn't being recruited by any school at the end of the early recruiting period, so SJU decided to put some serious time into him. Unfortunately, UNLV, Stanford, Arizona and Nevada, all much closer to home, jumped into the race and all have an edge over SJU. This is looking like a lost cause.

The second of the two "tower" prospects is Erik Domercant of Tacoma, WA. He stands at 6'11" and weighs in at 248 pounds. He's got great size and with that comes some good rebounding skills. He's average athletically, but at 6'11", what would you expect?

His AAU team, Top Notch, was a force to be reckoned with this past year and Erik had a lot to do with it. He averaged 10.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2 blocks per game. His two serious weaknesses are free throw shooting (58.6%), which is already a struggle for the Red Storm, and turnovers (2.9 per game). He could have a hidden three-point shot as he went 3 for 10 from beyond the arc.

Hopefully SJU can lock up Domercant at the end of the season, but that is some ways away.

I hope you end up getting Domercant, it would be nice to follow a somewhat local kid in your dynasty.

PS: I mentioned it in the other thread, but in case you didn't see it. I used a program called Kompozer to create my top 25 table. OR if you want to use my code, let me know and I can PM you it.
