Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread

The more I play this, the more I enjoy it. All modes are terrific fun: online is my favorite though... very good, very close games and I really like that they added an offline season mode this year as well.

I need some help getting the 2 Million coop HR pinball achievement though. Don't have anyone to play with here so I need to find an online partner. My high score in Japan (my best venue) is like 1.5M and I usually score about 1M average playing solo. If anyone wants to attempt the 2M score with me online send me a friend invite and let me know when you're usually online. Thanks.

Is it just me or in "Be A Legend" mode, when doing the Cooperstown games, it's impossible to win. They just hit homeruns like it's nothing, on any pitch too.

Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread

my team is pretty stacked. Since my characters nickname was Showtime I figured he'd fit in with the yankees.

1B- Mark Teixeira
2B- ShowTime
SS- Jeter
3B- A-Rod
C- Jorge or sometimes I put Cano there
CF- Ichiro
LF- Damon or I can use Markakis if I don't wanna use Linecum
RF- Rios
DH- is pretty much a tossup between Posada, Nady, and Matsui

P- Sabathia or Lincecum or chamberlain or Rivera

My favorite part is the absolute beasts that rios and ichiro are in the OF. They both have insane range, and amazing arms.

Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread

Does anyone now if there is a significant difference between the 360 and PS3 versions? I want to get this game but can't decide between the two.

I'm not much of an online player. I generally prefer the version with the better graphics.

Thanks.

Same score at IGN. Why not try the demos and find out yourself or can you not get online at all with the systems?

My line up is...

LF - Bay
CF - Ellsbury
RF - Created guy
1B - Youk
2B - Pedroia
SS - Roberts (steal #1 from the O's)
3B - Wright (steal #2 from the Mets,Lowell is too slow!)
C - Drew
DH - Big Papi

Playing the NL games Papi takes over at catcher.

When I play the regular season with the Giants I'm trading for Joe Mauer. 157 no hitters!

In playing the demo for both I did not see any difference. I would go with the system you are most comfortable controller wise because the button mashing at times.

Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread

My impressions after about 20 games:

Positives:

- Excellent strategy for a baseball "Arcade" game. When do you spend turbo? When do you try to go for a players hot zone? Do you use your big slam now or hold off until you get runners on or get two outs? I've had all sorts of games, from 10-9 slugfests to 2-1 pitching duels.

- Graphics look better than 2k9 by a long shot, stadium and player models

- Season mode. With 5 innings, I can get a full game in under 20 minutes.

- Trade feature mini games in season mode. When you want to trade for a player, you first have to have enough trade points and you have to win a mini-game. I've seen three so far (memory match, plinko, and a slot machine) Don't know how many there is. I try to do trades just to play these games.

- Fielding mini games. Legendary catches. You can catch a foul ball by balancing a ball on a tetter totter. You can jump on top of the dugout by pushing a button combo. Huge variety of mini games.

- Home run pinball. Smashing things with baseballs is always fun!

- Become a legend mode lets you play against cooperstown hall of famers. Seeing and playing against Ozzie Smith, Brooks Robinson, Ryne Sandberg, Dave Winfield is really fun. It's a great surprise to see who comes up against you for the first time. Lots of players you forgot about. (Mike Scott of the Astros comes to mind)

Negatives:

- Only one season (162 games in season mode)
- Become a legend makes you unlock cities one by one and some of the challenges are monotonous when you play them over and over again just to get to the next city.

Reminds me of a Next Gen MLB Power Pros if you liked that game, you should pick this one up.

Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread

I spent a good amount of time with this over the weekend. I am pretty much blown away by how much fun this is.

I've spent an endless number of years hoping to find the "perfect" baseball game. 09 The Show is getting very, very close. Having said that, the Bigs is what it is...and boy is it good.

I haven't played on online, but have gone head 2 head with another player in the same room. Very intense. Very challenging. And again, great fun.

Highly recommended.

Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread

I got this and anyone regardless of whether they like baseball or not has got to consider buying The Bigs 2. I've just started "Become a Legend" mode and just got out of Mexico and am in the MLB now. Even though it's arcade it does have some strategy and it's very addicting to play. The graphics are amazing and the stadiums look better than the ones in MLB 2K9. Gameplay is fun and this is one game I won't be putting down for a long time.
My only complaints are the rosters are kinda outdated and some trades that happened a month before release aren't in the game, but a little roster editing should take care of that My other complaint is the alternate uniforms are just throwbacks not true alternates. This really sucks for me as a Braves fan because we wear our blue away alternate uniform almost exclusively, but again this isn't a game changer and even though it would have been nice to have these in the rest of the game makes up for it.
Full review later, but as of now I give it a 9 out of a 10
