Thanks for the sliders. If I'm not a huge button jockey guy, are these going to be too hard? I notice the pitch speeds are pretty much maxed. [Reply]

They shouldn't. As I recall the pitch speeds were slow and allowed you to easily get around on a fastball on default.

If you find them too fast for you, bring them down in conjunction with each other... so if you drop a slider by one click, do the same with the other pitches.

The offspeed pitches are much faster because they float in seemingly when at the same slider level as the other pitches.

Enjoy! [Reply]

Hey, fellas,
Where is everyone? Thanks for the sliders Pared.
I've been busy with the rosters this week. Doing them manually is pretty beat, but they are coming along ok. I've done a ton of player edits and changed a ton of minor leaguers to Major leaguers. Got in a little BP this week and I'm still on schedule to start a 54 game season on the 4th. Opening against Montreal. Debating whether or not I want to create El Presidente for them and have him go against Santana for the opener.
How is everyone else doing with HH? You guys still into it?
Back to rosters and a short game against the new look Tigers.

I'm still here, generally speaking, I'm pretty busy with work during the week, so I'm mainly a weekend gamer. I plan to start my dynasty today! Look for it in the dynasty forum. [Reply]

I hear you Phillies fan - between work and the kids, weeknight gaming is pretty tough.
Pleyed a 6 inning game last night after working on rosters. Santana got killed by Detroit. Gotta work on my pitching. See you later.

Yup, I'm still into it but some other things have got in my way lately. Looking forward to really having a chance to dive into it in a few days from now. [Reply]

Played another game this morning (3rd overall game) and am a little concerned about the lack of extra base hits in this game. So far, I've only hit about 2 doubles, and no homeruns. The CPU only has 1 extra base hit (a double) against me too. I'm using Pared's sliders above. I'm not so surprised that I'm not hitting that great, but the CPU's lack of extra base hits is a little bit concerning. [Reply]

Hey, Philliesfan,
I haven't seen the CPU struggle with extra base hits. I have noticed that I don't hit that many homers, but the CPU gets its fair share of doubles and home runs off me. My amount of doubles seems fair. Most of my sliders are the default settings, but I've been experimenting with fielder speeds. Maybe lowering them a bit will make it tougher for them (and you) to get the gappers and you will be able to stretch out a few extra bases? That was something I was doing with The Show to try to get extra base hits for each side. Another thing I see with HH is that the CPU is very aware of throw speeds and baserunner speeds. For a while, I had fielder throw speeds up a notch. The CPU NEVER tried an extra base and wouldn't even tag up on deep flies to the OF. Turning down the throw speed resulted in guys beating out sharp grounders to short and being super close on grounders to second, so I put it back to 5 and left it there. How is your hit variety? I played a couple of games this weekend and was pretty impressed. I gave up and got a few dinkers to the shallow OF, but also saw a few down the line (which resulted in extra bases) and had one hit the wall on the fly in RF which reulted in a triple. Oh, the CPU WILL take the extra base if you don't hit your cutoff man.
I also think this game has cycles - you may have a few where your really on your game and can do no wrong and then you get one or two where everything you do makes you look like the September 2007 Mets.
Have some time this afternoon, so I'm going to buff up the rosters a bit more and get in a few innings myself. See ya!
