Baseball (Other)>High Heat 2004 Anything & Everything Thread

Here is a link where you can download the Playstation 2 manual for High Heat 2004: http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.4279

HH has "zone hitting" so you want to aim the analog stick/direction pad in the direction the pitch is coming. For example, if it's a high fastball you want to push up and swing, if it's low you want to press down and swing. Whether you hit a grounder or fly ball will depend on pitch type, location, swing timing and your batter's attributes [Reply]

If I could only find my Maxdrive and update the rosters I would play a season.

Thanks for the reply. So if I just hit the button and don't aim where the pitch is, I'm hurting myself, right? [Reply]

Just got done my second game, 4-2 win against the Cubs. I used the sliders posted above. Was down 2-0 going into the top of the 9th when the Cubs brought in Mike Reimlinger. Big Mistake. Polanco worked the count and ended up getting a single, he walks Thome, Burrell hits a bases clearing double. A few batters later and it's 4-2. I bring in Mesa for a 1,2,3 bottom of the 9th, and I escape with a 4-2 win.

I think I'm about ready to start my Franchise. [Reply]

Hey, Fellas,
Can I join the party? Still working on updating rosters manually. I don't get much time to do my gaming, so this is going to take a while. I'm basically going one team at a time and looking for the glaring changes that need to be made like Zito to San Fran. So far my Mets are done, Expos are ready, Braves are ready Yankees and Bosox pretty much done, too.
I'm going with a 54 game schedule and my opening night is set for April 4th. Until then it's rosters and batting practice. My settings are basically what Keirik posted. But I have different settings for home and road games. If CPU setting is at 4 for home games, let's say, it goes up by one for road games and if my setting is at 5 for home, it decreases by one for a road game. If anyone is interested, I'll post them next time, but they really are very close to Keirik's.
That scoring bug IS in 2004. If there is a man on third with two outs and that runner got on by being hit by a pitch and the CPU makes the third out, his run counts. Obviously this is terribly wrong. There is a code that you can enter and you can edit the score properly. The run doesn't count, but your pitcher is still charged with the run. This was a gamebreaker for me until I discovered the code.
Let's keep this thread going. I know I'll keep posting and boring you guys with my incessant game reports and observations. Glad to see you guys enjoying a great baseball game. And even though I never rooted for them, I kinda like having the Expos back, too.
See you guys later.

Welcome! By the looks of it, we'll probably have a few franchises this summer.

Thanks for the heads-up on the bug. I think I'll just go with it. I don't hit too many batters, so I can see this turning into about 5-10 runs over a season for me, not a huge deal. [Reply]

Hey, Philliesfan,
The bug is pretty annoying. In case you are interested or change your mind, here is the fix:
Square(2), Circle(2)L1,R1,You should hear a sound. Then L1+L2+R1+R2. You'll get a screen with game parameter options. This is where you edit the score.
Oh, another fun thing I'm doing with rosters. When there is a hole, I fill it in with a player from the 70's or 80's when I was growing up. Like Joaquin Andujar on St. Louis, or Cecilio Guante on the Bucs. No big stars or Hall of Famers. Just guys that for some reason stand out in my mind. I even put in the dreaded Mike Scott and his splitter for the Astros.

Thanks for the fix info. I'll edit the score when that does happen. I realize that I can't adjust the earned run on the pitchers line, but not a huge deal.

That sounds like a fun idea. Pre or post cheating Mike Scott, it makes a big difference! :-) [Reply]

Also, the version that I picked up today didn't come with an instruction guide. Should I hold the d-pad up to hit more home runs, or press another button while swinging? If I recall, there's only one swing button, unlike some games where there's a 'normal' and 'power' swing button. I like the one button approach because I think it's more realistic.

I can't take credit for these, there a variation of someone else's that were posted when the game first came, I just made some adjustment as I saw fit.
Holding up is sort of a placebo, in that if you guess right on the pitch location, the hitter should have enough power to hit HRs. But I do sometimes hold up on occasion when I feel it could get th job done.
And yes it's only button to swing.

Edit: Just played another 7 inning game Astros v Cubs, lost 3-2
Mark Prior's line 7IP, 3ER, 10K, 1BB, 1HR,9H, 109 Pitches.
I'm really starting to enjoy this game again.
Cool thing that happen that would have never occurred in any other game,
6th inning, 2-2 score, Runner at third, 2 outs, Corey Patterson at the plate was 2-2 in the game with a 2B, the cpu gives him the free pass to get to DeRosa who was 0-2, DeRosa grounds out to end inning. [Reply]

Thanks for posting this code, I never even knew about this bug but its not a big deal if I can edit the score even if it does still count against the pitchers ERA. When do you enter this code? During the game? thanks

I should have my new copy of this game either today or tomorrow. [Reply]
