Home runs help Astros blow by Cardinals

Houston, TX -
Tonight in Houston one thing plagued the St. Louis Cardinals, their pitching. The Cardinals gave up 14 hits and 2 home runs in route to a losing effort to close another series.

Lance Berkman was one of the shining spots for the Cardinals in the loss as he hit his fourth home run of the season going 2-4 with a single to add. Skip Schumaker also went 3-5 with a stolen base.

Kyle Lohse picked up the loss after 5.0 innings and giving up 9 hits, 5 runs, and striking out 3 batters.

"Our pitching staff has started off really strong and it was finally time for them to show that they were human," said manager Mike Matheny, "I expect no problems though and I am confident that we have one of the best staffs in the National League."

Going, Going, Gone
Beltran's home run lifts the Cardinals in extra innings

Phoenix, AZ -
The Cardinals won a late inning affair to open out the series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on a good foot. After Kyle McClellan and Jaime Garcia gave up 2 runs in the 7th innings, Carlos Beltran hit a solo home run in the top of the 10th inning to give the Cardinals the lead. Jason Motte woud come into the game in the bottom of the 10th and close it out for his 8th save of the year.

Beltran was of course the hero going 3-5 with a HR, 2 R, RBI, and a stolen base. Lance Berkman and Matt Holliday also both went 1-4 with an RBI.

Jaime Garcia threw an excellent game going 6.1 innings giving up 5 hits, 2 runs and striking out 4.

When questioned after the game Jaime Garcia had this to say, "I had another good game. I have no reason to complain this year at all. I'm going to just keep pitching and hopefully we keep playing well and get to the top of our division."

For my readers I need help with my decision for my final format. I like both but would you rather see the above format or the sports center type?
