A Season With The Champs,A Philadelphia Phillies Dynasty

Hey everyone,I haven't been around these parts in a while,but I've decided to run a dynasty using Out Of The Park 9 which follows the trials and travails of the 2009 Philadelphia Phillies.As you know,this is only the second time in the team's 126 year history that they're defending a championship so to say this dosen't happen very often is an understatement.In the dynasty,I will be using Cubbyfan's rosters which are simply the most accurate rosters out there,and they include not only MLB teams,but all of their MiLB affiliates as well,so don't be surprised to see some of your favorite team's up and coming stars.Besides the Phils I will also be following the League as a whole,so if there's a performance worth noting,it will be there.Enough talking,it time to Play Ball!

A couple of things before I get started,all transaction rules of Major league baseball apply,so DFA's,waivers,40 man rosters,Minor league Options,Irrevocable Waivers and DFA plus waivers all apply.The only thing missing is the Rule V draft which has been disabled(personal reasons).There will also be an amateur draft every December 15th that brings in "Fresh Meat".As for the Minors,while I will control promotions and demotions throughout the entire system,I will not be managing every Minor League game nor will I be mentioning anything about the DTD activity.I may every month or so give a breakdown with every team's record and place in standings as well as any standout players.Thats about it I think,if you have any questions or comments feel free to fire away.

Phils Prevail On Opening Day As Braves Relievers Falter

Citizens Bank Park,Phila,Pa.-Despite a strong effort by Braves starter Derrick Lowe that saw him go 6 and two thirds innings while allowing just one hit,six walks and 2 earned runs,the Phillies feasted on Atlanta's bullpen,scoring 6 runs in the final 2 frames to defeat the Braves 7-5.SS Jimmy Rollins led the way for the Phillies going 2 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI while starter Cole Hamels(1-0) went 7 and a third innings for the win.

Myers Injured In Braves Rout Of Phillies

Citizens Bank Park,Phila,Pa.-There would be no comebacks today.Following yesterday's comeback victory,the Phillies were absolutely destroyed by the Atlanta Braves 15-5.Braves 2B Kelly Johnson led the 20 hit assault going 3 for 4 with a home run,4 RBI,3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases while Brian McCann,Chipper Jones,and Garrett Anderson all homered.To add some salt to the wounds,the Phillies also lost Brett Myers to a shoulder injury in the 6th inning,the seriousness of the injury was not immediatelly known.

Encarnacion Ejected In Loss

Great American Ballpark,Cincinnati,Oh.-Reds third baseman Edwin Encarnacion upset at a called third strike,went absolutely ballistic on home plate umpire Joe West,bumping him in the process.He was ejected for his troubles while his team was defeated Mets 8-4.Trailing 4-3 entering the 9th,the Mets scored 5 times in the final frame on 5 walks, a wild pitch and a 3 run homer by Carlos Delgado.Francisco Cordero(0-1) took the loss while JJ Putz(1-0) got the win.

Myers To Miss Up To 3 Starts

Brett Myers

Phila,Pa.-Phillies starter Brett Myers has been diagnosed with an irritation the AC joint of his shoulder and is expected to miss up to two weeks.In his place the Phils will place youngster JA Happ who was effective in limited duty last season.

The St Louis Cardinals have signed free agent 2B Ray Durham to a 1 year deal worth $1,690,000

The Seattle Mariners have signed free agent OF Jim Edmonds to a 1 year deal worth $3,150,000 and free agent 1B Daryle Ward to a 1 year deal worth $2,060,000

McCann Leads Charge As Braves Pound Phils Again

Citizens Bank Park,Phila,Pa.-Following a season last year where they had big problems generating any power,the Atlanta Braves for the second straight game pounded Phillies relievers and won the game 9-3.Catcher Brian McCann got the fireworks started when in the top of the 8th inning with the score tied at one,he yanked a double down the right field line bringing home Kelly Johnson and Chipper Jones and igniting a rally that would see the Braves score 6 runs on 6 hits to effectively put the game away.

Indians Huff Lost For Season

David Huff

Cleveland,Oh.-Cleveland Indians starting pitcher David Huff in his very first start in the big leagues was injured in today's game against the Rangers and the news isn't good for Indian fans.Huff an MRI revealed has damaged elbow ligaments and will be lost for at least the remainder of this season.Said Huff "Its hard,it really is.I worked my whole life to get here and to go down like this in my first game,its horrible"

In Other News

Milwaukee Brewers slugger Prince Fielder developed an oblique strain in the Brewers game today against the Giants.He's expected to be out for about a week.
