He hit the homer following an RBI single by Roy Howell. The Blue Jays got a solo run in the 2nd on an RBI single by Rick Bosetti then scored two more in the 4th on RBI singles by Tom Hutton and Al Woods. Jimmy Sexton clouted a solo HR in the 5th and Tim Nordbrook added an RBI triple to provide the other Blue Jays runs, Boston scored one run in the 2nd on an RBI single by Rick Burleson then nothing until the 9th when Butch Hobson hit a solo HR and Jerry Remy smashed a 3-run HR. Montreal's Steve Rogers was named the NL Pitcher of the Month for May with a 5-0 record, 2.12 ERA, 6 GS, 46.2 IP, 23 K, .241 OBA. Injury News 6/04 - San Diego's Gene Tenace is expected to be out of action for 5 weeks after suffering a strained hamstring muscle. Contract News 5/30 - Mike Schmidt announced that he'd agreed to terms with the Phillies today. Officials declined to specify a salary publicly, but in private say the figure is $3,583,000 per year. 6/03 - The New York Mets announced that an agreement has been reached with Jerry Koosman to continue as their starting pitcher for another 3 years. The salary amount was not disclosed. |

Boston opened the scoring with a sac fly by Carl Yastrzemski then Oakland tied the game on a Mitchell Page solo HR in the bottom of the 4th. Fred Lynn homered in the top of the 6th to break the tie then El Tiante shuts the Athletic lineup down to pick up his 5th win of the season. Carlton Fisk suffered some bruised ribs in a collision with the first baseman on a pickoff throw and was placed on the 15-day DL after the game.
