Yankees Clinch Playoff Birth!!!!!

October vacation plans on hold for Yankees, who clinch an AL playoff birth in Seattle.

The Yankees needed extra innings to beat the Mariners 12-10, scoring a birth in the playoffs with their 11-inning win at Safeco Field. Hideki Matsui provided the big stick on offense, clubbing 2 home runs and driving in 3 as part of a 3-for-6 day at the dish. Joba Chamberlain held the line in extra innings, picking up his 6th win of the season, allowing 1 run and 1 hit in 2 innings.

The Yankees and Mike Mussina (13-8, 4.55) head to Los Angeles this evening to start a set with the Angels, who counter with Jered Weaver (8-5, 3.36).

A terrific job, as usual.

I ended up resuming mine since I was closing in on the end of the regular season as well.

Good luck in the continuing battle to rebuild the O's.

I would probably love this dynasty Highheat, but baseball in not my sport, I could hardly understand it. But good luck with this anyways. Hope it lasts a lot longer than it has gotten to so far.

Baltimore, MD - It was an ugly night for Orioles pitching, especially starter Jeremy Guthrie, who was removed from the game in the 5th inning after giving up 3 home runs, all coming to left center field, off the bats of David Dellucci, Travis Hafner, and Ryan Garko. This pushed the Indians to a 6-0 lead and they cruised to an easy 8-2 win in the series opener. Cliff Lee was awesome in picking up his 11th win of the year. Cliff allowed just 1 run on 3 hits in 6.1 innings before turning the game over to his bullpen. Both teams will be back at it again tomorrow night as Cleveland continues to try and make a run at catching front running Detroit.

I love how you are sticking with this man even though your record is not the best. I have a feeling I will be in the same predicament! Keep it going, good work as usual.

Thanks man. Yeah, it's like every time I play anymore, I expect the worst. My pitching is atrocious. Like last game, Guthrie kept hanging change-ups and I kept saying to myself, one is going to go flying out. Well, it ended up being three before all was said and done. Oh well, it's still a blast. Even though it's slowly coming along, I'll be keeping up with this for years to come hopefully. Thanks for following.
