Re: the os ladder crying, complaining thread(with a tad bit of strategy)

Anti-Earl Campbell build

G - Mike Singletary - MLB
G - Offensive weapon - HB/QB/WR

S - LeRoy Butler - SS
S - Joey Browner - SS
S - Greg Lloyd - OLB

B - William Perry - DT
B - Clyde Simmons - DE
B - Carl Banks - OLB
B - Offense
B - Offense
B - Offense

With this defense. It is a run stopping team. You have Mike Singletary in the middle. Greg Lloyd and Carl Banks on either side of Singletary who both are good run defenders. Then you got Big William "Frig" Perry cloggin up the middle. Then you have Clyde Simmons on the end, swapping him either side you predict the run to come to.

Now the key to this defense is you are playing a Nickle base defense all game. You swap out your nickle back corner and sub in Joey Browner and his big strength of containing the run. Then you have Butler playing the SS spot and can be walked into the box or left deep to prevent the big play.

Re: the os ladder crying, complaining thread(with a tad bit of strategy)

This is fun, I forgot all of the different theme based teams that you can have.

My all shotgun "Gator Offense" team

QB: John Elway
HB: Billy Simms
TE: Ben Coates
WR: Cliff Branch
WR: Rocket Ismail

this is a speed offense.. I stay in the shotgun all game with this team except for goalline sets.

Run sneaks, and QB draws with Elway, and I also have found a way to make a screen pass look like an option play

Simms gives me a speedy back and you have the deep threat WRs and the always dangerous Ben Coates as your safety blanket.

Stopping that Spread of yours and some 3-3-5 info.

3-3-5 Defensive Scheme

The 3-3-5 is a great base defense versus the spread offense. It gives you 3 defensive lineman, 3 linebackers, and 5 defensive backs. Creating pressure is very similar to the 3-4, with heat coming from the linebacker positions.

The defense is a great tool to use a Cover 2 Man base defense. Notice I said base defense, most don't understand the use of this term. This means it is what you will "Show" the offense. You as a coach, your job is to confuse the offense and get them thinking one thing when you are setting up another. So while the cover 2 gives you some early thoughts on your opponent. First it shows you how well you match up with them while not allowing the big play. The next thing it does is set your opponent up for those needed blitzes later in the quarter/half.

Running the 3-3-5 having the right personnel is a key factor on what kind of base D you want to pursue. For instance, having two star corners might give you the option of running a base Cover 1, allowing you to put more pressure on the QB, but still give you the comfort of having a true "cover corner" guarding those dangerous wide outs. This will also helps with what most coaches fear with the 3-3-5 and that it can be run on. Playing a cover 1 base will allow you to stack more men at the line and cover the run just as well as a 4-3.

Now for added run support with this defense you can swap out your third cornerback (or nickleback as it is referred) with a safety. This gives you more meat at the line but you lose a little in coverage. So picking up two star strong safeties might seem weird to some, but is a good way to add a run stopping option with a defense built to contain the spread offense. This kind of adjustment would be good for teams that run the spread but also like to run often and mix up their play calling.

The key personnel regions you want to focus on with the 3-3-5 scheme is at linebacker. They need to be able to rush the passer as well as play into coverage. Having decent corners is a must if you want to get risky with your play calling. Decent D-line is not a must but it greatly helps getting linebackers free and attacking the QB.

Pros
  • Great at stopping the spread offense
  • Allows room to interchange players
  • Allows shifts to confuse offense
  • Allows more freedom is blitzing the passer with out losing coverage help.
  • One of the least risky schemes to use versus spread offense
  • Is a every down scheme
Cons
  • Losses some run stopping power
  • Must have personnel to run scheme correctly
  • Is not to be used near the redzone
  • Needs more stars on defense to reach peak performance

Re: the os ladder crying, complaining thread(with a tad bit of strategy)

By the way is there anyway in APF to run a 3-5-3. I have never looked and seen if it is possible. I am sure you can just swapping out two of the corners for linebackers.

The 3-5-3 might be fun to try.

.................DE.........DT.........DE......... ......

CB...........LDOG..................RDOG........... CB
.............LBAT.........MLB......RBAT...........
.............................FS................... ...........

3 - Down line men
2 - Corners
2 - Strong Safeties = DOG
2 - OLB are the Bats
1 - MLB
1 - FS

I might try and see if there is a way to run this. Maybe something similar.

Re: the os ladder crying, complaining thread(with a tad bit of strategy)

will post this in the CORRECT thread:

Hitmna, i really dont care what anyone does anymore:

1. no, i dont like the fade and dont throw them unless thrown against me, but with that being said just play your game i play fade defense every down so throw them tile your finger falls off
2. What i said about gold rb's is that they are easier to play with especially in unpatched league play, but i am not handicapping myself because no one else sees my point of view.

3. once again why kneel when i can try 2 plays that i never run, i mean really u act like i called a power sweep with OJ or something, i ran a reverse to a generic for christ sakes!!

4. you played bump man over 50% of the time so you damn skippy i ran a counter, not going to play vanilla, nice guy no more. Going to use overpowered legends just like every body else, hell i played a team with 4 wr's and didnt complain just played the game

5. you play to win the game!!! rematch tonight, hell u can even pick my team!!!!!

Regardless, nice to see some good new rivalries forming. Can't wait to get some free time to get a game or two in soon.
