The thing about coverage and ballhawk is that they are two completely different skills.

Coverage is mostly about man-on-man coverage skills -- how well your DB can track and stay with the WR as he's running the route.

Ballhawk is all about how your guy reacts to the ball once it's in the air -- does he have that sixth sense that lets him he turn around and locate the ball quickly? Can he make a spectacular play on the ball or will he usually just have INTs clank right off his hands? Ballhawk ability decides all of that.

Yeah ballhawk opens up a new animation set. I had a CAP polamalu with clutch instead of ballhawk and while occasionally making the insane catch, the ballhawk polamalu made them with regularity and was able to make acrobatic catches on a more consistent basis.

Coverage bonus has to apply to zones in some way too, Dave Wilcox is just insanely good in zone coverage and he only has coverage bonus. Quick feet and loose ball magnet are nice skills to have in zone coverage.

Agreed.I hate that attribute. It can be countered but it is really annoying. If you cant read defenses or scheme on offense what is the point?I think it is cheap unless you are a noob. Not only that but how are you challenging yourself by doing that.

Route god - It makes wrs cut on a dime. The issue with this is that pass defense is all ready shady to start with. Then combine the fact there is no defense ability for defenders to cut and stay with them. You can really abuse this ability if you choose to.

Closing speed - One of the worst of the bunch. Just make a team of bronze defenders with closing speed. It is like having automatic come back on in racing games. The guy just out of no where runs at inhuman speeds. A bronze defender with closing speed is all you need and can have a very solid defense.

Bump master is the antidote to route god, but I cant tell you how much royal whining used to go on over at the 2k forums, when it came to playing press coverage.

One of the problems that this game has created is that it has spoiled people offensively.

They seem to think they have a devine right to have their recievers run unchallenged all over the field.

I agree 100% on closing speed...The best safeties and LBs I have ever manually controlled have all had the closing speed attribute.

When you manually use them, you can actually feel the tractor beam like effect.

Well you are right that Bump Master will limit the route god from getting off the line quickly. IF and that is a big IF, you can get to the QB then yes it makes a difference. BUT if you don't get pressure, then your CB will be laggin behind and the WR will cut full speed on a dime and then the big play follows.

I love Bump Master and see nothing wrong with a team running bump and run all game. If someone can't figure out how to beat it then that is their fault. If they don't have the personnel( A deep threat). You damn right I am going to be pressing their possession WRs from getting off the line. That is not cheap tactics, that is real defensive play calling.

A corner with bump master can completely disrupt the timing of pass plays.

Am I alone in the observation that Rod Woodson at FS, is APF-Ed Reed?

He's fantastic back there.

Yes sir, you are correct. Ronnie Lott in the SS spot is an absolute beast too. Only reason I don't move Woodson to Safety is because it completely jacks up all the substitution & package options in the game. But Lott + Woodson at Safeties makes for a very though day all around.

I have that exact set up on a couple of teams and Rod at FS is Ed Reed.

Try Ronnie Lott at CB. you wont be disappointed.

Lott can play every DB position at a very high level.

Just like in reality. Lott was a vicious CB when he was young.
