Re: the os ladder crying, complaining thread(with a tad bit of strategy)

I have always thought gold RB's were pretty balanced after the patch came out. We play lobby matches so we use the patch. I've completely locked gold RB's down and have had them break me into pieces. The fun thing about gold RB's in this game is just the clear variety of style.

Really, there's a perfect RB for every system in this game and it is just a matter of what you're willing to pay. I love that. Gold WR's are just slimmer pickings and I think that's why we don't see them as much. I've actually never faced Belitnikoff and have only faced Lofton very sparingly.

Don Maynard is still the devil.

Thanks for taking the non-game discussion here! I do really appreciate that.

See, this is why I like playing CAP leagues based off real teams instead of stockpiling the best legends and seeing the same 20-30 guys on every team.

We all know who the best values are at this point in the game, so it gets pretty boring playing against the same legends and same team builds over and over again.

I'd probably play more games if we were doing a "college football" ladder instead.

I agree with this weeman, I would have no problem with this, and I know that this is casey's ladder, but what is the harm if two people agree to play with CAPS?? I know casey you have already stated no, and not trying to overrule you, just a fair question, because now that the competition is getting heated the team builds are going to start for the most part to look the same. even if it were just bronze and silver CAPS

There are plenty of legends no one uses.

Use them.

There's no reason people cannot make 8 teams or more with no player duplication.

when I play, I just rapidly cycle through and pick a team at random.

that would put you in the minority, Most people put together a team that is easy to play with, not building team for fun, If someone lets me know before hand, I will play with almost any setup, bronze only offense, 11 seldom used legends, hell we can pick each others teams, I dont care, but I am not coming to the plate with a mish mash when I see the usual suspects, Jerry Rice, Ben Coates, Pete Metzellarrs, et. al, you are doing a dis service to yourself.

It's sad really..i mean how many people have ever used Leroy Kelly? Or guys like Cliff Harris, Chris Doleman, Curt Warner, and a host of others..these guys are all quite good.

People set up their own limits created by.. them. Just because a player is popular doesn't make them better. What it comes down to is fitting players into a system. Every single player has something to contribute and can shine under the right circumstances. With my most recent team, I'd much rather have Marcus Allen than Earl Campbell for what he brings to the table.

I think there's more than enough legends to use and really, APF at its best is legends vs legends.

Well I can't speak for CK but I think the intent was to just start this up and have fun. It was just to be simple and fun with little rules. Just play and enjoy the game for what it is. I think the response to the ladder was probably bigger than most would of thought. CK said he had some different ideas for the next ladder. When the ladder was started it was started with no caps, so I wouldn't think it would be right to change it midway. Its only a few weeks and a new ladder will start with new rules possibly.

Nevermind: CK already spoke!

Well hey we can talk about changes in the future depending on what people want here. I know I'd personally be turned off by using CAPs just because I think everything else out there involves CAPs. I thought it was nice to get back to pure standard APF for a fun ladder and let the other leagues out there get into all the CAPs stuff.

You guys are aware of how ugly cap builds can get? Earl Campbell be damned when you face the branching tackle, Speed burner, BAB, Strength, Stamina CAP Gold RB and the 6'6 gold WR with route god.

I just haven't had good experiences with CAPs outside of controlled league builds. I kind of think having legends only puts enough restrictions for a ladder to not even have to discuss the legitimacy of builds.

And to weeman, I understand what you mean and initially agreed, but then I thought about it: In NFL licensed games you play the same exact teams all year. APF team builds have much more variance, and while with similar emphasis, I rarely if ever see exact same builds. Everyone has a wrinkle as to what they like to do.

I'm strongly leaning towards no CAPs and it'd take a really good argument along with majority support to change anything.

I've used every back in this game.Kelly is my fav. Some legends I refuse to use because I hate them or the Team they played for or they have rediculous attributes.Thats why I dont ust Montana,Marino,Cambell,Rice, any player with clutch, 4th quarter comeback,Rout God....I don't like using majical abilities...It is not realistic the way it was implemented into this game.I used to wonder for a long time why I would see certain legends over and over and then whoala!!! It was revealed to me.I also wont use 5 abilty Caps either but that is a whole other discussion. At any rate I love Kelly he is awesome. He has good stamina, can run between the tackles, outside, great in return game,he is also very consistent.
