Funny thing is, it's pretty much the opposite in All Pro Football. Defensive linemen were the best thing you could do to defend the pass in that game, but the linemen just don't seem to make many plays against the pass in Madden.
It's usually LBs and DBs making crazy picks and taking them back for touchdowns that makes the difference.
Heck, I had a crazy pick-six my first game with a rookie FS. :-)
I enjoy the increased risk of throwing risky passes in this game. After so many games in APF of people blindly firing well timed passes into double coverage and getting away with murder, this is a nice change up. It really factors into passing with the lead, and I like that. Passing has enough rewards the way it is.

We'll I replayed my 1st game again & sure enough get waxed by the RAMS 25-7. I think I threw my timing off by playing an Online Game against someone on my friends list since now Online HEAD 2 HEAD Games are set to SLOW, but games against the CPU are set to NORMAL until the 1st patch.
Basically couldn't get anything going as Spags defense was looking like the G-MEN defense of 08. I had 71 yds total offense & 4 1st downs.
All games for week one are done, save Green Bay vs. Chicago. Can Grunt and Mkoz please knock this one out so I can advance the week?

I told grunt to go ahead and play it himself against the CPU (if that is possible), because I'm busy all day today. If you can award him the win or something, go ahead and do that.

OK. I've left Grunt a message on Live to play the game. I'm going to help the wife clean the house, and if the game isn't underway by the time I'm done I'll just advance the week.
Great job getting the games in, guys! From what I can tell, all our new additions are clean and competitive guys, so this is looking like it's going to be a great experience. Let's keep the good times rolling!

Here's a quick summary of my week 1 game this morning. I almost got the ol' switcharoo pulled on me. I was up 6-0 late in the 2nd quarter when I suddenly get booted off XBL. I had to replay the game and let's just say I had 4 turnovers in the first half. Quite an adventure... a stressful one :-)
Good job getting games in everyone. This is going to only get MORE fun! I think I might put together some power rankings in a bit here. Top 5 or 10 only.

I wish we could get some more guys in here to replace the CPU teams, especially now that there is a discrepancy between CPU game speed and MAN vs. MAN game speed.

This week I had to play against the CPU lead Dolphins. To my surprise, it took me going to overtime before I was able to sneak away with the win. I'm typically an online-only type of guy, but this game was pretty intense because there was something on the line. Miami gave me all that I could handle in this one.
The absence of Bob Sanders was felt early when Chad Pennington connected to Ginn for a 71 Yard bomb. They had my team a little on edge at this point, so we just did what we could to control the clock. Johnson and Brown combined for 31 carries and 89 yards. It was a tough day running the ball, but the bulk of those Yards went to Johnson who accounted for 61 yards on 19 carries. Donald Brown only manged 9 yards on 12 carries.
After the fast start by Miami, we were able to settle down and tie the ball game 10-10 at the half. In the third quarter neither team was able to do very much and no points were put on the board. That changed late in the 4th when Larry Johnson broke a 10 yard run to give us the lead. I figured we had it wrapped up, but a little over a minute later, Pennington hit Carpenter for a 62 yard bomb...."Dammit"
Peyton had the eye of the tiger while running the 2 minute drill. With moments left in the game Adam lined up for the game winning field goal. The ball is snapped...AND...BLOCKED. We are going to overtime.
In overtime we win the coin toss and Peyton continues his 4th quarter work. We seal the deal with a 27 yard pass to Austin Collie aka 'Dog'. I felt very fortunate to escape with the W. The Colts win 23-17 and improve to 2-0.
Larry Johnson looked good out there today. I think I'm gonna try to split their carries around 70/30 in his favor and let young Brown learn from him.
DeWayne Robertson - 6 Tackles, 1 Sack
Gary Brackett - 1 INT
Melvin "Silver" Bullitt - 1 INT
Dallas Clark - 4 Receptions, 72 Yards
Austin Collie - 5 Receptions, 92 Yards, 1 TD
Larry Johnson - 19 Carries, 61 Yards, 1 TD
Donald Brown - 1 TD
