Only reason we don't have a new game is with 2K Sports bottom line. They have been losing money for a long time now, and APF2K8 lost them even more, couple that with Prizefighter, and issues with MLB which was brought in house, and you have a strategic decision by Visual Concept to focus on titles that are making them money. It makes sense from a business perspective. Now throw in the hostile take over attempt by EA, then a failing economy, and a unit that's still bleeding money, and from a business perspective you still can't justify taking the risk.
Once they have MLB back on track, the unit is profitable, and they have grown the Visual Concepts team to the point they can branch out again, I'm willing to be we'll see another incarnation of a football game. IMHO it's all just a matter of time now.

Honestly, I think it'll be 5 or 10 years before we ever see an ameriacan football game not made by ea. I'm done waiting on ea and madden is only playable with heavy slider tuning, and even then its not something I play competively; just for fun. I'm pretty much done with online. I've had enough cheeser rants to last a lifetime. Too many exploits. Online is just not what I thought it would be.

Why doesn't 2k give up the baseball rights to EA because they have been making horrible games for years now and EA give up the football rights to 2K......Seems like the wrong company is producing the wrong games......

I have been thinking about this as well. I wish it could happen and im sure 2k would love that trade, but its a money maker for ea.

How can 2k be a failing company when they have the GTA franchise?
Anywho, my opinion on this is....ditch every sports titles apart from MLB and the NBA. Take the money you USE to spend on NHL,BIGS etc. and use it to make another APF game. If they don't want to do that then they could also use that money to start building a new NCAAFB game since the license is expiring soon.

There are many units within Take Two, 2K Sports is but one of the units. You can read their quarterly responses and news items to see who is in the red and who is in the black.

Watching that made me think of APF 2k8 and what if 2k made a game based on what the USFL was. Very similar to the NFL setup. I would be all over a 2k football game that just put in generic players and the ability to create another USFL type league being able to customize the unis and stadiums. I would love a game like this. C'mon 2k....make a game that has no boundaries.

I've always felt the same way. Unfortunately, it won't happen. I do think Sega should work w/Konami on its MLB title. It might reinvigorate the franchise
