***Official NFL 2K 10th Anniversary Thread***

The date it all began - 09/09/99. One franchise arose to challenge the 800 lb. Gorilla known as the Madden NFL franchise. That would be the fine folks at Sega Sports and Visual Concepts. NFL 2K and Madden...for the next 5 years, these two warriors would spawn the greatest rivalry ever seen in video games.

First, I would just like to say thanks to every developer that has worked on the NFL 2K series over these past ten years. You have given so many hours of entertainment to so many different people. You put out a quality product year in and year out with less resources than the other football titles on the market. You kept the franchise rooted in football, not gimmicks. From the TV-style presentation to the physics and even to the fundamentals of the game, you all did not lose focus on what NFL sim-heads were craving for. Thank you.

Secondly, I own a PS3 and will be playing APF 2K8 Online just about all night and tomorrow night. I encourage everyone to meet me on for a night to remember as we remember 2K football. If I am not online from 6pm cst to 7pm cst, I am out to dinner but will be back on shortly. I hope to see many people there.

Great post. I remember min night release getting my Dreamcast and 2kfootball.

For me, no game was a greater leap as far as graphics, gameplay, atmosphere, etc. than the 1st 2K football game on Dreamcast.

When I got my dreamcast sports pack with 2k football, basketball, and baseball... I thought I was in heaven.

2k football was the greatest game I had ever seen at the time. I also remember always signing Barry Sanders as a FA. It was a great game, and I just hope another football game from 2k will surface soon.

It's a shame really. Maybe NCAA 2K11 next year...
