One thing I wish they add is the identifying blitzers and having them a focus of being picked up. This , in my opinion, would allow more manual blitzing without people crying cheese online.
That would be good if the other A.I defenders are tuned to get after the QB if the line is focusing on the manual blitzer.

Re: APF 2K9 Wishlist

I dont know if this has been mentioned before (this thread is up to 10 pages).

Remember 2k5 had the VIP feature where play-calling tendency is recorded, and if your friend has a VIP profile in your memory card, you can play against the CPU, with the CPU utilizing your friend's VIP? APF should record the tendencies of the top online players, and give us a choice to play against their profile when playing offline.

I agree w/your points about the benefits of charging regarding the running game, but there's little benefit to the defense (seemingly). Now, if they take the necessary steps to make runners slow enough when there's defensive contact, then it may work. Right now runners can charge, break a tackle attempt, then accelerate to full speed too quickly.

The charge could also work w/the passing game but it would need to be implemented differently. Currently players benefit too much for charging while moving to throw accurate passes - that needs to be removed for sure. Should it only work for QBs when they're stationary? Might work better, but hard to say. Charge for receivers could also work, but again - there's very little benefit to charging for DBs.

Overall it's a system that benefits the offense too much imo. And while I agree w/you that w/much tweaking it could work - and perhaps work in a very realistic way - it seems like it'd take too much to get it to work correctly. I really agree w/your points about the wrap tackling system. And others have brought up the need to be able to not only make more sure tackles (if you choose to do so), but also be able to take out a runners legs from under them - a seemingly very necessary tactic for open field tackles, or when there's a mismatch between a big player taking on a smaller player. It's in the game, just not as pronounced as it should be

I agree on all points. Id just rather see it ballanced vs scrapped. i play solo 95% of the time so sliders usualy get me to where im happy, but your points are very valid, especialy online or head to head.

Re: APF 2K9 Wishlist

I will be honest that I don't have the game. But based on the impressions I read, here are the things I am hoping to see in 2K9:

1. Massive customization. Players/Teams/Stadiums, the works. Let's not worry about upsetting the NFL. Lets be honest, EA is going to renew the deal.

2. A more robust offline experience. I am not even talking about franchise mode....I just want a good varied Season mode. Where we can have all generics, and divisions can be randomized etc....where the same team isn't in the finals every time.

One point regarding upsetting the NFL... It's been discussed; I don't think the reason they didn't go for more customization is because they didn't want to "upset" the NFL and damage chances of doing an NFL game. While some people (including myself) might go the route of trying to recreate NFL teams, most people likely wouldn't. And they'd be opening themselves up for litigation. Whether right or wrong, it's costs money to have to defend yourself in court. Weighing the positives/negatives it's likely not a prudent choice to focus on NFL-style/level customization. Not that I wouldn't love to see VC's sig-style take on a Shawn Merriman, Tony Romo, Randy Moss, etc.

Of my experiences online, I'd say less than 20% of the people I've played have played w/teams that resemble NFL teams. And that number is really around 10-15%. I think VC succeeded in getting some people to accept the generic setting; it's a matter of refining the game while getting others to buy in

I agree that a small % of people would take the time and energy to recreate the NFL. But I also think that it wouldn't be too hard to avoid litigation. Just give us a pixel editor. The NFL can't sue for that.

And if they are worried about people making dirty names and taking them online, then limit online play to a preset list of names/logos.

Re: APF 2K9 Wishlist

The "NFL is going to get upset" and "EA could sue" if there were a full editor arguments are complete BS. Neither 2k, the NFL, or EA has any responsibility or say in what consumers do with an editor. Konami has been doing for years with Winning Eleven, other games have had similar features (Baseball Mogul comes to mind), and on the PC the mod community has basically built entirely new games off retail games. You're kidding yourself and others if you think anything happened other than 2k half-hearting this game.

I'll create another thread to discuss as not to sidetrack this one

Re: APF 2K9 Wishlist

Replays need to be longer.

I just had a sweet INT play I can't save because the replay is so damn short, it starts at him at the 20 yd line, even though the play was in the end zone...
