I've been tracking this game for the last couple of weeks and I actually like the sliding this game has. Its going to be pretty fun juking people in this game. Although, the sliding looks a little too exagerrated in CL10, I honesly think EVERY sports game needs some type of sliding effect. This way, the defense doesn't ALWAYS stick to you like glue. I just hate it when I'm playing Madden (or 2k5) and the ONLY receiver route that works is a post route or maybe a corner route. Its gets old after a while, but if the game actually has a sliding effect, other routes would work because receivers would be able to create some space between themselves and the defender. And plus, if your opponent is blitzing a lot you would be able to dodge those blitzes and buy an extra second or two in the pocket to make a good pass. Right now, people want to play with fast QBs so they can roll out a lot but if a football game has that sliding effect it would be more appealing to play with a slower QB.

I don't know... I just seriously think a sports game MUST have some kind of sliding effect, except for maybe a tennis game.

But if you look at CL, it appears that the man with the ball doesn't slide quite as much as the man without the ball, so it seems like this will make the controls pretty good. Actually, the sliding was pretty popular among the 16-bit games. Madden '98 for the Genesis had a lot of sliding going on, so did the NBA Live games. And one of my favorite games of that era was the original Joe Montana Football also for the Sega Genesis. It had that sliding effect too. And when players would blitz, you could dodge those blitzes because of the sliding effect, and when your opponent blitzes, it actually puts you under pressure to make a good pass, your ability to play QB and avoid the blitz would often determine whether or not you win the game. You actually will make bad passes in that game that result in interceptions. It was really an awesome game for its time. The follow ups (joe montana sports talk football) were terrible games though.

I'd like to see another football game like this on the new systems. Maybe the guy making CL10 will make a cheap football game too? But enough about football...

After watching these gameplay videos, i've noticed a few things. It looks like we don't see anyone setting picks. This is a pretty big part of Lacrosse, you always see people setting picks especially when you have guys setting up the play from below the goal. Also, you see the defense double teaming the setup guy below the goal too often. In real lacrosse, they don't double team the setup man that often because it would open up the middle and make it easier for the offense to score. And another thing I noticed, there's not enough offensive players slashing towards the goal when you're setting up the play. In real Lacrosse, guys are always slashing towards the goal and trying to get an easy shot right in front of the goalie's circle.

Maybe the final product will include this stuff but right now it looks like its pretty basic, get the ball, juke left, juke right, take the shot. Hopefully there will be a little more to this game than this. But for $5 what can we expect? LOL!

Whether this game is the greatest ever or worst, every lacrosse fan with an xbox needs to buy it so there can be future games. Gotta start somewhere.

I got it last night at midnight. I only had a chance to play with the create a team options buy wow it is deep. Of course the first thing I did was create St. Michael's College.

The game has online play that should be a blast, I can't wait to fire it up as soon as I finish this post.
