Nope. Collision detection is non-existent on the base paths. Hopefully will be in 2K10....:-)[Reply]

I gave up after a week I just couldnt get into it .
But if it was my only choice im sure I could have gotten a few months out of it .
I really dislike using the sticks for pitching and batting unless they are done well like EA NHL series.

I never understood why people always tend to blame the activity that you're filling up your extra time with as the problem. Isn't the problem that time you're using to fill up with gaming is "pointless" in the first place? In other words, when I was in college, etc., I might have been able to game because I had extra time, but that didn't make me resentful of the gaming itself. If you control your own time, it's totally possible to play a lot of games and still have a balanced life. But when you have a family, career, kids, etc., you don't control your own time anymore.
I totally agree with you, I have 2 kids and therefore I only own my 360 which I don't get to play enough to warrent a purcase of a 2nd system. MLB 2k9 was dissapointing but, I don't get to play enough to really care anyways.

a couple weeks ago i sold my copy. it was going so well and there were so many things i liked, but there were so many little things that just irritated me that weren't visible from the start. in some ways, i think the commentary hid those things. it sounded like a real game.
i went back to 2k8. unlike most i found that game to be playable after i tried somebody's sliders. it was unplayable prior to that. i think i will keep that one for a while.
but there is always the dusty PS2 some of those games. they really had some good ones on that system.

I rebooted my laptop ( With Vista) and put the game back in UNTIL I installed the patch.. UGH!!!!!

I got The Show 09 for PS2. I like it. You should check it out if you want an alternative to MLB 2K9. I bought a PS3 a couple months ago, so I never play the PS2 version anymore, but it's fun.

I did the same thing, but honestly, The Show 09 for PS2 has not aged well. It's virtually the same gameplay as on PS3, but then again, it's also virtually the same as MLB 06: The Show.
Visually, there's no progressive scan, so it looks butt ugly on a flatscreen HDTV. I've been trying to rediscover a lot of old PS2 games, and it's always pretty surprising which ones make the leap to HDTV well. Anything cartoon or cel-shaded actually does pretty well (MLB Power Pros, Okami, Dragon Quest VIII). Unfortunately, many of the sports titles do not.
MVP 2005 is probably the worst, which is too bad because the gameplay and features in that game are legendary. But I just can't bear to look at it on a newer TV.
