1. MLB 2k8 sucked (big time), so any change hopefully will help.

2. Kush pushed out poor titles like NHL and MLB year after year.

3. Visual Concepts has made the best sport game ever (NFL 2k5) and a fantastic NBA game that constantly improves.

4. MLB 08 The Show will still be the best baseball game next year, but I would never sell my 360 for it. PS360 FTW

Looks like this is going to happen, its sad to see brain go but VC is a good sports dev and I have hope for this series once again.

Now that it is canceled, I wonder if the College Hoops 2K team is working on the MLB series. That was a highly polished product and gives me hope the MLB franchise is in good hands.

However, anyone who rejoices at this news so quickly is being foolish. Visual Concepts has a huge task in front of it. As of today, it has roughly eight months to prepare and polish its first MLB title. That is a huge undertaking.

Unfortunately the MLB 2k9 game seems to be a lame duck. It looks like much of last years development team won't be working on it. Kushgamer told us that 2k baseball has never been able to turn a profit. He said that 2k7 was the closest to breaking even of any of the games. With the restructuring of 2k sports in the shadow of the sale of Take Two you gotta believe only bare-bones minimum resources will be allocated to MLB 2k9.

Hey Brendan, do you remember the first MLB game on dreamcast? Wasn't that Visual Concepts that developed it?

So another new development team will probably mean another 2-3 years of excuses..as this seems to be the 2K mantra..please the "we're new, we didn't have enough time card" Hopefully if it is VC, this won't be true, but with their hands full with other projects I can't imagine this game gets the attention it needs.

How unfortunate this all is for us. But I can't imagine how Major League Baseball would allow for a disgusting game. Especially when a bunch of modders are doing a better job at updating MVP year in and year out. Talk about embarrassing.

On the other hand, is this Take2's poison pill for EA to swallow?!

I don't see how this is unfortunate... I say thank God for this. I know, I know, it probably WILL take a couple installments to turn this franchise around... but let's be honest here... it NEEDS it.

Re: Did 2k transfer MLB '09 development to Visual Concepts?

I find this to be rather disconcerning...

Once tweaked to my liking MLB 2K8 has become a very fun game. I enjoy it, and I would hate to something resembling 2K6 come back into the picture.

I really hope that VC can get a good title out there for us similar to the stature of the NBA 2K franchise. I have that one too, and it is the best b-ball title I've ever played.

The first World Series Baseball on the Dreamcast was developed in Japan by a studio now known as WOW! Entertainment. The game engine was later used in the vastly underrated Home Run Kings on GameCube; the only game to date to include players swings themselves. The stadiums were also gorgeous.

World Series 2K2 was developed "under" Visual Concepts, but not "by" Visual Concepts itself. It was handled by Blue Shift games, which also worked on World Series 2K3 and ESPN Baseball 2K4 (arguably the best in the series).

Kush Games/2K LA handled MLB 2K5, 2K6, 2K7, and 2K8.

You messed up in the above statement...

I think you meant to say...

Kush Games/2K LA MIS-handled MLB 2K5, 2K6, and 2K7.
