OS Ultimates OFFICIAL RULES (credit to BCS Bound)

General rules:

- Heisman Level?
( this will be decided after release)
-10 minute quarters?( this will be decided after release)

*No pulling players off the LOS (on defense) during ANY play before the snap (punt or otherwise).

*Goal-line formation only should be used in short yardage situations (3 yards or less for a 1st down or touchdown).

*Onside Kicks
Can only be done when the following occurs:
-It is the 3rd quarter with less than half of time remaining while your down by 21

-Anytime in the 4th quarter when losing by more than 14

-If your down by 7 with 2 minutes to go in the 4th

*Milking the clock under 1 minute in the first half and two minutes left in the game is allowed. Other than that, please pick and run your play as quickly as possible.

*NO HUDDLE: You can do it at any time when down by 14 points or more. You can also do it in the last 2 minutes of the 1st half or last 2 min of the second half. If you throw an incomplete pass or the clock is stopped, then you must call a new play from your playbook.

*Recruiting and Depth Chart Rules
A. Only Freshmen @ Juco's may redshirt ( if a player other than stated above has a season harming injury (over 5 weeks) he can be redshirted the next season if wished to be)

B. All players must play their natural position, You cannot put players who don't play a particular position in a unnatural position. (HB's can play FB but they must be at least 230 lbs)

C. Any player can change to any position in the off-season player position change stage. If you change a player to TE, he must at least weigh 220lbs . NO EXCEPTIONS

*QB PLAY -- QBs are only allowed to drop back 7-10 yards during pass plays (except when under extreme duress by the defense). This rule is in place to prevent the popular tactic of dropping your QB 10-20 yards deep to allow your WRs time to break free from defensive coverage. QB Roll-outs are deemed legal. However, be careful that you are not dropping the QB too far back from the line of scrimmage. The 7-10 yard rule still applies to Roll Out plays. Please do not abuse the Roll Out. Mobile QBs are a part of the game, but do not call pass plays with the sole intention of taking advantage of defensive AI flaws, this is acceptable once or twice a game, but there are designed QB run plays for a reason. Excessive use of this as a type of offense is strictly prohibited.

*4TH DOWN -- Because the game favors offense to defense it is much easier to achieve success on 4th down in the game as opposed to in real life. For this reason we restrict going for it on 4th down to realistic situations:

a. Anywhere from your opponent’s 1-40 yard line is acceptable ( That means you must be in your opponents territory)

b. A 4th down hail marry at the end of the half or game is also acceptable

c. If you have a 14 point lead or more on your opponent, you must kick a field goal or punt the ball. ( This means if you have a 2 TD lead over your opponent, you must kick the ball)

d. Fake kicks are allowed within reason. Use good judgement. 4th and 13 from your own 35 in the 1st half is NOT acceptable to go for it or to fake.

e. 4th and inches from anywhere on your side of the field is also unacceptable (That means you cannot go for 4th and inches unless your at least at the 50 yard line). Once you cross the 50 you can go for it on 4th and inches. You cannot go for it on 4th and 1 unless you are at your opponents 40 yard line. (For Example, if you just crossed midfield into your opponents territory and they hold you to a 4th and 1 at their 44 yard line, you must punt or kick a long field goal. If the situation was a 4th and inches from the 44 yard line, you can go for it.)

Basically, what all this means is on 4th down if your not at least at midfield, you must punt the ball, even if it is 4th and inches. If you cross the 50 and are between the 50 and your opponents 40, you can only go for it on 4th and inches. If it is 4th and 1 or more between the 50 and your opponents 40, you must kick the ball away. Once you cross your opponents 40 yard line, you can freely go for it on 4th and whatever.

BLACK LINE MEANS GOING FOR IT ON 4TH DOWN IN THIS AREA OF THE FIELD IS PROHIBITED.
RED LINES MEANS YOU CAN ONLY GO FOR IT ON 4TH AND INCHES IN THIS AREA OF THE FIELD. IF IT IS MORE THAN 4TH AND INCHES THEN YOU MUST KICK OR PUNT THE BALL.
GREEN LINE MEANS YOU CAN GO FOR IT ON 4TH DOWN FREELY IN THIS AREA OF THE FIELD.

* 4th QUARTER RULES
Starting in the 4th quarter, all rules still apply EXCEPT THE DOWN AND DISTANCE RULE. This means you can go for a 1st down or touchdown on 4th down regardless of field position. However, if you are leading by 14 or more points in the 4th quarter you must still either kick or pu
nt the ball (unless the first down or touchdown is 2 or less yards away and it's under 2 minutes)

*Mercy Rule and Sportsmanship(USER VS USER): If at any point you get a 42 point lead, REMOVE your starters and play a conservative style of offense. With the difference in talent of teams and coaches, there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON why you would need to roll up a win over your opponent. The coaches in this dynasty who control “lesser” teams are the BACKBONE of the dynasty and should not be made to suffer horrible defeats so guys can prove whatever it is they prove with a 50 point win. THIS IS THE EPITOMY OF BAD SPORTSMANSHIP and will be dealt with quickly and severely. What’s the difference between a 35 point win and a 50 point win? Bad sportsmanship.

NO RESTARTING GAMES AGAINST CPU OPPONENTS. IF YOU LOSE TO SUCKVILLE UNIVERSITY OR POWDERPUFF ST. DEAL WITH IT. ANYONE WHO RESTARTS AGAINST CPU WILL BE EXPELLED.

We all know that EA servers suck. That doesn't mean you need to take advantage of that. If you restart against a CPU opponent more than once, then your best bet is to just sim the game. More than likely, the stats will get thrown out anyway. Everyone in the league has the skills to beat the CPU. Just let me know what happens.

If you have a disconnect against a user opponent, if the game has not reached half-time both players must replay the game. If a disconnect occurs after the first half, the player who disconnected is at the mercy of the other user. Meaning it's up to the other user who didn't disconnect to allow a restart.
