Re: The Career Of Scott Quickel (NHL 09 be a pro story)

Its the day of the draft, Last night wasn't a very easy one to sleep through. All my life i heard I didn't have what it takes. That I should give up and do something else. Well 4 Years later im about to prove to everyone that I can make it in the NHL. But when will I get that call? Or Will I?

Draft Day!

My Dad and I have a great relationship and part of that reason is hockey. He was my coach in College and we had a pretty decent team. When I was a child I remember getting up very early to travel to Detroit and watch the Red Wings practise. Wouldn't that be awesome if i was selected by them in the first round? I doubted the first round was possible. Im projected to be drafted in the 3rd round.

I was sitting on the side of my bed when my Dad walked in and started talking to me.

"Hey son, Today's the day huh, nervous?"
"Very nervous. Heard any projections? Teams interested? Anything?"
" You know i won't lie to you, The paper doesn't say anything and neither does the NHL Network. But it is so early. The draft is in 4 hours, plenty of time left."
"I guess, how about you me and Mom go out to breakfast?"
" Sounds good I'll get her up."
I felt many mixed emotions after my chat with Dad. Time in Michigan State was so easy I thought i would be buzzing in the paper as there are only 2 other Spartens with a chance of getting drafted. I'll try to get my mind of hockey at breakfast but I know the subject will come up.
