Re: Franchise: Would adding Head Coach's Offseason & Injuries be enough of an improve
I think that If they managed to import 75% of the franchise mechanics from Headcoach I would be more than satisfied with maddens franchise mode. But if I wanted somethings...
Expanded weekly gameplan options- You should be able to plan to double team certain recievers or linemen consistently. You should have your team trained to press regularly or release regularly.
Expanded in game directions (probably not all that useful if youre playing the game but direly needed in headcoach)- You should be able to tell a (high level)QB to audible to the run when there are 7 in the box, and pass when there are 8, you should be able to tell a RB to stay in bounds, tell safties not to get beat deep, tell defenders to try to force turnovers, or tell them to go for the safe tackle.
Training rehabilitation options- You should be able to do more to rehab your players depending on your trainer, I hate that a player gets injured and all I can do to get them to get back is sit them out at practice. Good trainers should have more rehab options
More defensive coaching elements- You cant scout a teams defensive tendencies
More contract/trading freedom- Its too hard to trade for what you actaully want sometimes. where is the madden style trading block. Contracts have the same issue.
Progression- Madden's progression is horrible, Head coaches is better, but I would like to see progression with bit more control, you should be able to develop players into the roles/skills that you want on your team, especially for "intangible" attributes. You should have "pet project" players that you designate every game whose progression points you directly controll in order to improve them whatever way you want after every game.
Bring back player roles- Not weapons, player roles from last gen madden 05 or 06 i cant remember. I thought that was such an awesom Idea, and it was implemented almost perfectly.
More QB ratings- QBs dont have enough differentiation between them. There needs to be attributes like footwork, release, throwing on the run, deep ball, etc. Think about a QB like Kyle orton. He has a strong arm, but cant throw the deep ball. Don know why but its the truth, these ratings allon with...
Leadership, consistency, heart, or cluch ratings- having a leadership rating would impact the way players play in crunch time or big games, along with how players behave, and how rookies develop, and there should be team chemistry elements tied to this rating. Consistency same thing. Players with low consistency/clutch/heart ratings will fumble and throw ints int he fourth qaurter, mis big tackles, drop important passes etc. Players with High consitency will make Spectacular catches at crunch time, get pancake blocks during the two minute drill, strip the football, etc. Its just another way to make the real playmakers more significant.
Im getting myself excited just talking about all this stuff...
But agin, If I could get just 75% of whats is already in head coach in madden, I woud be a satisfied customer for the first time since I got "next gen" madden, becuase the lack of a decent franchise mode has had this game collecting dust about a month after I get it which is unnaceptable, especially when you realize taht NCAA's franchise is just as good if not better than its last Gen incarnation.
