2/04 - The Philadelphia Phillies have parted ways with cf Garry Maddox, sending him to the Chicago Cubs for p Ray Burris.
2/08 - Officials for the New York Yankees confirmed that they have traded 1b Chris Chambliss to the Montreal Expos. In return, the Yankees will receive p Rudy May.
2/08 - The Texas Rangers sent cf Juan Beniquez to the San Francisco Giants for p Jim Barr.
2/08 - The New York Yankees have finalized a deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates for the services of p Jim Bibby. In exchange, the Pirates will receive c Thurman Munson.
2/10 - The Kansas City Royals have sent lf Hal McRae to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for p Geoff Zahn.
2/26 - The Pittsburgh Pirates have parted ways with c Ed Ott, sending him to the San Francisco Giants for 2b Rob Andrews.
2/26 - Officials for the Detroit Tigers confirmed that they have traded rf Rusty Staub to the Minnesota Twins. In return, the Tigers will receive p John Sutton.
Injuries
2/13 - The Pittsburgh Pirates will be without the services of Bruce Kison for awhile. He suffered a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament (elbow) recently while playing catch with his son. The Pittsburgh reliever will be on the shelf for at least 7-8 months.
The offers continued to come in for either Carl Yastrzemski or Dwight Evans from Philadelphia, Montreal, California as well as others. They were all rejected.
