Players Of The Week For Week Ending August 19,1906
 | Monday, August 20th, 1906: NL Star of the Week Honored
A battle-tested Fred Tenney declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 34-year-old Boston first baseman collected the National League Player of the Week Award.
He wrapped up the week with a .500 average, 9 hits in 18 at-bats, 1 home run, 4 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
Thus far this year Tenney is hitting .282 with 1 home run, 41 RBIs and 70 runs scored. |
 | Monday, August 20th, 1906: Week's Top Player: New York's Delahanty
23-year-old Frank Delahanty sent shock waves through Major League Baseball last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the American League Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Delahanty made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .458 average, 11 hits in 24 at-bats, no home runs and 5 runs batted in.
Where the New York Highlanders left fielder goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Delahanty certainly made his mark last week.
This year Delahanty is batting .251 with no home runs. He has scored 48 runs and driven in 32. |
