Re: The Philadelphia Athletics,1905 And On-OOTP 9
Today's News Notes And Scores
 | Thursday, May 11th, 1905: Cincinnati Blanks Superbas, Chech Wins
Charlie Chech of the Cincinnati Reds just toyed with the Brooklyn Superbas today, blanking them 8-0. He was almost untouchable, baffling them on a 4-hit shutout with 1 strikeout and 2 walks.
"I'm sweating now because it's hot in here," Chech said in the clubhouse after the game. "But it didn't even feel like I was sweating out there."
One of his teammates said it was easy to play behind him today. "It was like he's just playing with the hitters and doing whatever he wanted to do."

 | Thursday, May 11th, 1905: Chicago Loses Evers
The Cubs received bad news this morning. Johnny Evers will miss 8 weeks due to a strained rotator cuff muscle. In the Chicago-Boston game he sustained the injury while throwing the ball. "I'm disappointed more than anything," he told reporters later in the day. "You can't help your team on the bench," Evers sighed. "I'll do the rehab work and hope for a quick recovery."
Thus far in 1905 Evers is batting .305 with no home runs, 14 RBIs and 9 runs scored |
