Athletics Pound Boston 7-2
Huntington Avenue Grounds,Boston,Ma.-In another fundamentally flawless performance,the Philadelphia Athletics wore out the Boston Americans 7-2 for their 5th win in 7 tries.The Americans got on the board first courtesy of a Lou Criger two out 2 run double in the bottom of the fourth giving Boston their first and only lead of the day.In the 5th,the A's Ossee Schreckengost's 2 run double tied the game while Monte Cross's single gave them the lead 3-2 after 5.The Athletics scored twice more in the 6th on a Socks Seybold RBI single followed by a Lave Cross RBI sac fly giving Philadelphia a 5-2 lead.In the 8th,RBI singles by Lave Cross and Eddie Plank ended the scoring at 7-2.With the win,starting pitcher Eddie Plank is now 2-0 with a 2.16 ERA tying Chief Bender for the team lead in wins.Here's the box score.

Cozy Dolan has to call it a season. The Cincinnati Reds right fielder sustained a season-ending injury against the Chicago Cubs and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Dolan was injured while running the bases. His doctors diagnosed it as a torn groin muscle and stated that he would not be able to play for 8 months.
So far in 1905 Dolan is batting .154 with no home runs, 0 RBIs and 2 runs scored. He has 2 hits in 13 at-bats and a .267 OBP. |
