 | Friday, January 6th, 1905: New York, Detroit Agree to Trade
A trade between New York and Detroit was made official this morning. The Highlanders have sent 28-year old left fielder Patsy Dougherty to the Tigers in exchange for 29-year old center fielder Jimmy Barrett.
Dougherty is hitting .314 lifetime with 526 hits, 49 doubles, 32 triples, 10 home runs and 119 RBIs to date. He has scored 297 runs and stolen 76 bases.
In his career Barrett is hitting .300 with 849 hits, 15 home runs, 525 runs scored and 223 RBIs. |
 | Sunday, January 8th, 1905: Deal: McCarthy for Congalton
The players apparently knew they were on the trading block, so it did not surprise one of them when he learned that he had been traded to Chicago. "Got my bags packed already," he said, when reached for comment. The Cubs will receive 29-year old right fielder Bunk Congalton, while 35-year old center fielder Jack McCarthy will go to the Cleveland Naps.
In his career stats McCarthy has compiled a .287 batting average and collected 1038 hits, 7 home runs and 417 RBIs.

 | Sunday, January 8th, 1905: Cardinals, Tigers Swap Players
The Cardinals and Tigers confirmed this afternoon that a trade had been agreed upon. In the deal, St. Louis will get 28-year old starting pitcher Ed Killian, while Detroit will receive 28-year old second baseman Danny Shay.
In his 118-game career Shay is hitting .251 with 104 hits, 13 doubles, 3 triples and 1 home run. He has scored 49 runs and driven in 28.
Lifetime Killian has chalked up 17 wins and 24 losses and compiled a 2.45 ERA. |
