Late to the party as I've been under the weather since Sunday, but good work Brian & Michael on relaying the large amount of info to the FIFA-hungry masses.
Disappointing to hear that manager mode didn't get much (if any) attention, but it seems most at OS say that gameplay comes first, so it's hard to argue with the direction the devs took for 09. That being said,
I really hope that they can allow us to alter the CPU's squad prior to any game (MM, Cup or just Exhib). This would be at least a viable work-around until they can figure out how to make it work for future releases...
I was hoping to hear that more fouls were called in the games you played, not that "they'll be in the final build". Have you tried intentionally committing some questionable tackles (sliding or standing)? In 08 there were times that obvious fouls were not called, so perhaps this could be a slight test of the new referee logic...
Great to hear all the positive stuff about the nuts & bolts of gameplay (control/responsiveness, team tactics, etc). A few quick GP Qs: Does the ball seem faster to you on ground & lob passes? Do the keepers seem more intelligent? Did they have to kick you out of the studio last night?
