EA just really tried to exploit the series (Sims) and they dubbed it down with a couple of off releases (like The Urbz), which was even more shallow. I don't see GTA being dubbed down, but I would forsee exploitation of the series.
Yeah I get what your saying now about the Sims with those silly spinoffs, but IMO as I still play the Sims 2 to this day the EPs and the game are still great to me. I love Maxis games besides all of the silly spinoffs like Urbz and Sims Stories and maybe Mysims as I haven't even played that one and don't plan to. I feel some of the EPs add a lot to the game and if they never made them I probably wouldn't care for the game any more.

I get what your saying about Urbz and stuff, but I think EA just wanted to try and get the Sims out there for Consoles and make a formula that tried to appeal to console gamers.

On AKI I loved the N64 games like No Mercy and Wrestlemania 2000, IMO though I don't think the lack of defense was a product of EA, I just feel that it was a development design and who they tried to develop it for.

On Simcity I still love that series, I know Will Wright though since I love verything he creates and I read a lot of his interviews and he always talks about making a game that appeals to a LARGE crowd. So I don't think it is EAs doing but Wright's as he wants to make games that appeals to everyone and games that last a long time.
