Start/Wait on CM4?

I have started a game but haven't even touched it. I have not downloaded the two patches yet and was wondering if I can still play the game and install them or if I need to start a new game each time a new patch comes out. Thanks.

To see the immediate effects of a patch, you need to start over. Some of the fixes take time to work their way into the game. However, you can play the game out of the box, without the patches. Just note that some leagues have fatal errors (like Argentine and Belgium leagues) that will prevent you from playing. I played a short Liverpool career with no problems before the patches. You can also add patches and still play your save game without problems. The save games are all compatible with the patches. The patches will enhance your game considerably, though.

Personally, I have dabbled with the game, but am waiting for the EP#3 to be released before I start a serious career. If you are planning on playing a low division team, I would suggest that you do the same due to some of the problems with the financial model in the game.

They are trying to have the EP#3 ready for late next week, just so you know.

Edit: for clarity

Klay is right, just to be on the safe side, wait. I never encountered any problems right out of the box but the enhancements in EP3 should make the extra wait worthwhile.

Start now just to learn the game, but don't start a career until the score changing bug is fixed.

I have been knocked out of the UEFA cup twice because of that bug.

BTW, the score changing bug won't be fixed until EP4.

I'm playing a career now. I figure I'll start over when EP4 comes out (I figure that's a month or two away). By that time, I'll be tired of my current dynasty.

Yeah. I'm thinking we might not be playing this much before a season update comes along, which we'll have to pay for.

I really hope not. I'm all psyched to play but want to wait until the patches are released. Thanks for the feedback everybody.

Bump

Now that the latest patch has been released, is not a good time to start or should I still wait? Thank you...

I'd say go for it, they've released a modification to the EP that prevents the score-changing bug (which has a a 1/100,000 Chance of happening anyway), and a full fledged fix (the current one slows the game down slightly) will be in EP4

Do I have to install all three patches or does the third incoperate the previous two?

Yes, third incorporates the others.
