I am happy for the Devils.

Lady H_B is from New Jersey. Her maiden name is Dowd. During one of our first conversations, I was all like "Oh yeah? There is a player on the Devils whose last name is Dowd." She replied, "Yeah, Jersey Jim Dowd?"

That is how you make a good first impression, ladies.

Teams playing 14 games in the first two rounds are now 0-39 all time in the conference finals.

I nearly woke up the little one when Henrique stuffed it in. When I saw the Devils swarming the net, I shouted this is it. The night of my prom saw the bullshit Matteau goal and I am thrilled the Devils finally got a chance to redeem the conference final loss (albeit about 18 years later).

I think the Devils dictated most of this series, but the power play stunk and they were not good at clamping down on the lead. Marty let up his usual fair share of BS (the "shin" redirect, the 2 from behind the net that ricocheted off his pads), but also let up some soft goals. They need to be much more consistent against the Kings.

Lot of fairly cheap tickets for the Devils game on Stubhub tonight for anyone looking to go last minute.

That's a shocker. Just went on ticketmaster, game is not sold out, pulled up 2 seats in the first row, lower level. Yes, first row. Seriously, wouldn't the organization be better served as the second team in Toronto, or in some other Canadian city that gives a shit about them. Great run organization, but nobody cares.

Happened in the NYR series too. Seems like the Devils hold back a number of seats for sponsors/important people, players' families, etc and then offer them up for sale once they go unclaimed.

If I still lived in Jersey (where I grew up) I'd be all over this. Saw my first game at the Rock back in December. I joked that I wished Phoenix had won solely because I'd have been able to get tickets and it's not super expensive to fly there from Denver.

And yes, sure enough, I just went to Ticketmaster and tickets are available at face value in Section 19 for $138

I hope that was the end of a long shift for Zubrus. He didn't give much effort on that pursuit, especially when Kopitar slowed down to deke.

True, it almost seem like a shootout attempt he had so much time.

Either Zubrus was at the end of a long shift, or Zubrus is a piece of shit. If the past couple of years are any indication, Zubrus is a piece of shit.

Yeah, I don't really know what the hell that was about. But even before it, Devils had too many chances that they just failed to convert on. So it was fitting that LA got one and made good things happen.

Thanks. Yeah, I don't know how we missed each other last series. It was an entertaining series, though. Here's hoping the Devils fight back hard on Saturday night.

Man Zubrus sucked a nut there. I don't know how many more blown chances the Devils could have had.

I am thrilled the Kings won, but this is going to be a tough series. Devils are the first team the Kings have played that have been able to keep up their energy, physical play and relentless fore checking.

The main advantage the Kings have is I believe Quick will prove to be the best goaltender in this series and I think that will end up being the difference.

It's the combination of these two that I feel gives the Kings the advantage. I say that of course because I thought Lundqvist would be the better goalie, but when you can't match the energy and forechecking, the goalie advantage gets neutralized some. There's only so much you can hope for when the puck is constantly in your zone. It's something the Rangers really didn't improve on until Game 5.

And man do I love Quick's demeanor. Probably wouldn't work too well for a position player, but absolutely perfect for a goalie.

Yeah, it was absolutely astounding. Though I seem to recall their minor league team was in the AHL Finals or something...so I think if they've already got/had local hockey fever that would probably explain it. I just didn't realize the fanbase was that rabid.

OKC is the Oilers' farm club and they were one of the best teams in the AHL and just lost out in the semi-finals with crowds of 2600 for their two home games in that series. And I've heard a lot of those tickets were freebies.

So, I don't think hockey fever is the correct diagnosis on this one.

Could it be that an NBA game was on the same channel prior to an NHL game and fans passed out after the basketball game was over and left their TVs on?

Sports bars maybe the culprit? The basketball games on ESPN and TNT, hockey on NBC. So no way it's the same channel.

I knew once they didn't convert on that last push at the LA end, that it was just a matter of time. LA is just a better team. I just hope it's not a sweep and at the end of the day, I'm just ecstatic the team made it this far. It's not over yet and perhaps going on the road and being legitimate underdogs now will spur them to get some magic going but...if nothing else, you can't ask for much more after back to back OT games.

Both teams deserve to be here.
