Wow. Havana, one of the recent expansion teams, has never had a below .400 season. Impressive.

I think I got a break or two with some of my signings in that first season, so I was able to escape from that possibility there. Afetr that, I like to think my plan, or whatever you may call it, kicked in and has helped me stay afloat.

It would be nice if I could keep that up, but we all have our downtimes. I am pretty sure I have been under .400 in FOOL several times, for instance.

Damn, don't have the stats in front of me, but Sutkamp better have had an absolutely incredible season to have beaten out Adjo's crazy season.

The game uses VORP way too heavily in deciding the Best Hitter or Best Pitcher awards. It is not the only factor it considers, but it obviously uses it strongly. Since Sutkamp plays at 3B, his VORP was among the highest in the league.

Offensively speaking he hit in a better hitter's park in a better lineup so also put up some pretty gaudy numbers.

From an OPS+ perspective, Adjo had him beat (as did several others), but the game doesn't consider neutralized stats when looking at awards.

As for the Commissioner's award, since that goes to a player on a team that either made the playoffs or just barely missed out, Adjo wasn't in consideration there.

O'Reilly Honored by FOOLX Hall of Fame
Friday, October 21st, 1988: "My dreams never took me to the Hall of Fame," said pitching ace, Tom O'Reilly, the newest member of the FOOL-X Hall of Fame, at his induction ceremony.

"Like most of these Hall of Fame members -- probably all of them -- I didn't play the game to get here. I played the game because I loved it. That being said, it's the Hall of Fame. It's that magical place, it's that place that transcends time. And now I am a part of it. And so proud to be here."

In his outstanding career O'Reilly crafted a 258-179 record with a 3.54 ERA. Opposing clubs batted .266 against him and he rung up 2860 strikeouts in 4102.1 innings.

One of his managers commented on what made O'Reilly such a formidable pitcher.
"I don't care what the situation was, how high the stakes were -- the bases could be loaded and the pennant riding on every pitch -- it never bothered Tom. He pitched his game. Cool and crafty with nerves of steel."

Butler Takes Place Among Greats
Friday, October 21st, 1988: He is one of the most dominant starters ever to stand on the mound and now Chandler Butler will join the other baseball legends as a member of the FOOL-X Hall of Fame. He will be inducted this weekend.

Tongue-in-cheek, he told reporters at the press conference, "I want to thank all my teammates who scored so many runs and my fleet-footed outfielders, who ran down so many of my mistakes. Without them, I would have never made it to the Hall of Fame."

Then speaking seriously about his accomplishments and induction to the Hall of Fame, "It's like a dream... and yet it's something I never dreamed would happen. It is truly an honor to have your name and your statue among all of the alltime greats."

In his legendary career Butler accumulated a 221-116 lifetime record with 2079 strikeouts in 3149.2 innings. In 461 starts, baseball's newest immortal recorded a 3.01 ERA.

Tom was solid for so many years for me... I'm glad he's in the Hall.

3. António De Jesús, 37 year-old starting pitcher

Missed this one over the weekend. Butler sure was worthy. He was alot of fun as well. He didn't have great stuff (a 6) but made it work for himself.

I think that is the first time I can say that I've met a demand from a player (salary wise) and him still not take it. Either that or my export didn't take

Your export took. Sometimes players in arbitration stage take too long to "agree" to accept it and end up becoming a free agent before they decide to accept it. Other times their demands go up after you send the offer for whatever reasons..

So when offering an extension at the arbitration stage, if you want to be safe, pay more than their demand to make sure they agree to it earlier.

Got an "Error 100" on the file from Balzac. Looked like the export was corrupt or unreadable by the game. (I tried twice to make sure)
