Agree with St.Cronin, if the pitch is wet, you better use long passes as the short ones will be slowed down by the mud.
Also I'm not sure if this is modeled into the game as it's in real life, but when raining, in real life teams tend to shoot more, specially far shots as there is an higher chance of the ball slipping in the GK hands or doing weird things when bouncing in the wet grass.
