Come shine here with me....

WTF is the new Mazda add all about? Some huge gospel choir singing about how they're finally free....free from what? Shine what? Somehow, this both confuses me and awakens my white guilt, which is pretty impressive for an automobile advertisement.

I hate these stupid ethnic marketing companies they hire to target minorities customers. They do an awful job, they border minstrelsy and completely miss the point. This might not have been one of their spots, but it sure looks like one.

Targeting Christian car owners? I also hate the targeting of minorities. The fast food chains are the worst at it.

Anyone see the recent phone ad targeting hispanics? The voice overs on these commercials are insulting.

As good an opportunity as any to state that I really dig that kid with the boom box in the McD's commercial.

Dola - and I was confused about the commercial too - I thought it was celebrating...something. Then I realized it was a commercial.

I'll clarify that I appreciate having people of color in commercials. I just hate that there are people out there who think that they have to market to us differently and using the most stereotypical ways to do it. But it's a decision made by the ad companies, who are just using their own limited ideas of what folks want to concoct it all.

I just came back here when that damn commercial came on again.

But...to me, it's the perception of how folks see themselves or perceive how others see themselves, that makes me think of it no better than this stuff:
