Happy 50th birthday Larry Bird

Damn, you begin to realize how old you are when some of the players you watched hit the half century mark. It pains me as a Lakers fan to give him props, but he is definitely one of the greats.

He was my absolute favorite growing up. I wonder how his personality would come across today if he was starting out. We used to love arrogance in sports, but seem to detest it now.

Ant, is there something you want to share with us?

(Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

The thing about Bird was most people did not know he was arrogant until late in his career. He wasn't as obvious when he talked trash on the court. Or maybe we just weren't looking so hard for it then. You could be sure that if he walked into an All-Star locker room today and asked who was coming in second, it would have been caught on tape somewhere and he would have been ripped for it royally.
