Timetable...

As I said in the invitation PMs, getting the right people is definitely a better way to go than first-come, first-served signups, but it takes longer, and is darned well worth it. For those that didn't know, IHOF was started just like this league was: by a group PM from me on announcement day, which was 10/17/2K3 (FOF2K7's was 10/26/2K6). It was mid-January before we got 32 and a commish in place for IHOF, and that worked out pretty well. I was shooting for having all of the people in place by January 1st, which would have represented roughly 3 weeks faster than IHOF. The commish piece is the biggest one, but if that falls into place, then we'll probably end up even ahead of that pace.

Is it unrealistic to think that we could get everyone in place and have a preference draft by around December 21st? If we did that, we'd have the holiday period to look over our rosters, make trades, write up season previews, etc. Thoughts?

Sounds fine with me. I better get started running some test preference drafts so I don’t end up with a team looking like Maassluis after the IHOF draft.

Sounds perfect for me.

Law school finals run til December 20th, and with the holiday break in the GEFL, I'd be able to spend some quality time doing some writing for the (yet unnamed) new league.

That should work fine.

When do we want to start to get our webspace up and running?

Well, there's no shortage of people in this league with space to use, that's for sure. My guess would be that we ought to have a name and a commish in place before we get a site set up, but maybe I'm missing something there.

I would agree that having a commish and league name in place should be done before setting up a website.

The proposed timetable works very well for me.

Yeah, I agree too. Let's set everything up here, and then move on to the website.

Sort of combining two topics here. I think the above is doable if we go with a preference draft. If we go with a full 53 man draft, I'm not sure if a pre-holiday start is realistic.
