College football: Rivalry week discussion (spoilers possible)

Well, Pitt is off and running in their effort to start another BCS shakeup week ... 81-yd TD drive to open things up.

This is gonna be a fun game. WVU marched down the field to tie it at 7, and Pitt just ran the kickoff back to WVU's 34.

I love watching Dave Wanstedt's "I just pooped my pants" look after every touchdown.

I would give almost anything to be in Toledo for the Michigan/Ohio State game.

Alas, I'm cursed and I have to be in Alabama where people actually think the Alabama/Auburn game is important.

Hawaii has a big game as well. not a rivalry game tho.

8-2 Warriors vs the 6-3 San Jose St. Spartans.

Alabama is the only place the game matters this year. That being said I'd love to see it live.

Not sure whether this thread is going to be the one for all results/comments this week, but ... BC leads Maryland 14-0, courtesy of two fumble returns for TD's in the first five minutes of the game.

Three minutes in, and BC is already up on Maryland 14-0. The same guy has returned two fumbles for TDs.

edit: jinx!

Good thing the Badger - Buffalo game is not on TV other than ESPNU. In the first quarter, there was a lost fumble, a muffed pitch, an INT, a FG that hit the crossbar, a blocked FG, and the teams combined to go 0-5 on third down.

The first successful 3rd (or 4th) down conversion of the game came when the QB fumbled the snap, picked it up, and ran ahead for the 1st. I feel sorry for the fans in Madison.

The Badgers sound like a high school team. They forced Buffalo to punt, then the damn returner doesn't tell his guys to get out the way on a short punt, it bounces off a Badgers foot, and is recovered by Buffalo. First play bomb down the middle to the 3.

I think the entire stadium (teams included) are sleeping. Buffalo shanks a 25-yd FG, and the Badgers have to take a time out because their offense wasn't ready to play. OK, I'm done ranting. The Badgers have no right to complain about rankings if they play like this.

GT vs Duke starts in true to form fashion:

1-10-GATECH20 (14:54) Reggie Ball was intercepted. John Talley returned the interception for 8 yards.

Thankfully, this is Duke. They missed a subsequent FG try.

edit to add: Next possession, all on the ground as Choice gets five carries for 80 yards & a TD. 7-0 GT with 9 mins left in Q1.

Vols lead Vandy 19-7 at the half.

Elsewhere, Florida is doing very bad things to Western Carolina early in Q3, it's 41-0 Gators. Leak is 9/12 for 100 yds & a TD, Tebow is 5/5 for 78 yds passing + 5 rushes for 33 yds & 2 TD's.

Vols 29-7 over Vandy late in the 3rd qtr after Coker rips off an 88 yd run for a TD.

GT is 21-0 over Duke, TD passes from Ball to Johnson (Calvin) and Johnson (James).

And that Florida whipping continues, now 62-0 over W.Carolina. Tebow with career high 10/12 for 200 yds & 2 TD's (plus 2 more rushing TD's).

edit to add: Make it 28-0 GT, another Ball to C.Johnson TD following a Duke fumble inside their own 30.

BC is wayy up...38-16 (and the 16 is because they have had their backups in since midway through the 3rd so MD got a TD)

Catching the end of the PSU/MSU game. Question on Penn State, where is their band? Music and Sound Effects?? The band is a piece of what makes the college environment... This sounds more like a NFL kind of place. Strange.

Yup, makes me wonder how the season woulda turned out if not for that one NCState drive.. but another good win, if they can win against Miamimidweek they should be heading to a New Year's Day Bowl
