NFL Week #4

Since I live in a market where our team plays the late game on the non doubleheader network, I only have 1 game : Redskins - Seahawks.

Let's start the discussion on the other games.

Giants-Rams here. I'm not particularly interested in it. And that sucks because i'm going to miss every minute of the late games. argh!

Eli Manning to Burress TD. Manning coming out red-hot again. As bad as he looked last year, he's looked oustanding to me this season. His only noticeable weakness is a tendency to underthrow guys on crossing patterns (not leading them enough). His accuray on deep balls is obscene.

Nine minutes in, and both Mannings already have touchdown passes. Better get used to this in the NFL.

Roy Williams drops a potential TD pass on 3rd and 8.

Lions punt.

Paul Smith interferes with the fair catch. 15 yard penalty.

The Lions are so &^%*ing retarded.

As weak as the NFC is, I think the Giants may end up a contender if they can get their defense into the "respectable" range. I think their offense is going to be frightening by late in the year.

Giants defense comes out, stuffs the Rams, Chad Morton has a decent punt return past the 50.

Good recovery by the Lions D.

Held the Bucs to a field goal on first and goal from the 1. In fact, they pushed them back a good 15 or so yards.

The announcer in the Jaguars-Broncos game just said "simularities" and that's the most interesting thing that has happened so far.

I'm a Broncos fan near Pittsburgh, and I'm about to go out wearing a Broncos t-shirt. At least the Steelers are off this week, so I hope nobody in this town yells at me while I'm out. I think the Giants and Rams are the only game on TV here right now, so this is a perfect time to get out of the house.

Thank heavens for the Eagles and Chiefs playing late, because the other game showing here is supposed to be the Jets and Ravens. I think the over/under of the NYJ-BAL game is 9.

TD Pats. Corey Dillon. Pats ran it down their throat and threw a nice screen there after a couple beautiful Brady tosses. Looks like Dillon will be fine, he has 66 yards already so far or somethin (includin the screen)

Giants decided to go for it on 4th and goal from about the 1 and 1/2 yard line. Manning audibles at the line, then tosses a TD pass to Toomer. 17-7 Giants.

Dillon had a long run, he's not going to be fine. He gets hit in the backfield by 2 guys every time. The Pats O-line needs figure out how to run block, they haven't been able to this whole season.

Thankfully their defense has been pretty solid so far.

true. but the problem isn't with Dillon. It's with the O-Line needing to work on their cohesion and their run-blocking. Dillon still has stuff in the tank.

Lions tie it up at 3.

Recovered a fumble at the 30.

The Lions offense looks horribly inept. Jones can find no room to run. The wideouts can't seem to get open and when they do Joey's passes are off the mark.

The defense is looking strong though, especially the front four.

I agree 100%. Their run blocking has been woeful all year, it's concerning. On the other hand their pass blocking has been outstanding, other than the occasional missed blitzer, which is acceptable with such a young line.

I'm really liking my pickup of Eli in my fantasy league a couple of weeks ago. My Manning - Tomlinson - Westbrook trio should win me a lot of games.

Giants already have the ball again. St. Louis was back on offense one play. Long completion to Curits, he nearly gets his head taken off and fumbles, Giants recover around their own 45. I really hope I'm not facing Eli Manning in either league today...

BTW, Penalties are killing the Rams right now. They've been the Giants a free 15 yards on personal fouls on 2-3 drives.

Amazing interception in the Indy-Tennessee game.. Too bad they didn't let the play go before blowing the whistle, or the Colts would be putting more points on the board!

Pats tie it up just before the half.

I hope their D-line reverts to their old self or this is going to be a last person with the ball wins type game.

The "Browncos" continue to flat out dominate. What started in the second half of the San Diego game has continued through the first half against Jax.

No Champ Bailey. No Darrent Williams (the other starting CB). It doesn't matter when the defensive front four just destroys people the way they are. Warren, Brown, Ekuban and Myers have all made big plays today.

Jax has 48 yards of total offense and 2 first downs. I wish I knew what was said in the locker room of the San Diego game. After they came out after halftime, they've simply been amazing.

Their last 8 quarters (2 against SD, 4 against KC, 2 against Jax):

109 plays against - 374 yards against (3.4 per play) Not rush, per play.
On third down teams are 4-26
13 points against

Now, I understand Jax isn't the '04 Colts and that SD was struggling and that maybe KC had an off game. . . nor am I going to assume this continues all season. Hell, I don't know if it continues in the second half of this game.

But that's an amazing 8 quarter stretch and if it turns out that this is the real Denver defense, they may make a bit of noise this year. (so long as they don't travel to Indy for a playoff game of course)
