I would imagine that the finesse running plays are good against an aggressive pass D as well. If you have a big pass rush, the big three plays to catch them off balance is a draw, a screen, or play action.

I would assume the best formations for finesse running plays are the single back formations, but I could be wrong.

This actually brings up another issue, I think it would be great if Jim could put out a list of plays by formation. I tried to write them down, but it was a royal pain in the neck trying to figure out how to organize them all.

When I used to call my own plays I found that finesse plays worked excellently if used sparingly.

As mentioned above, Single Back formations/ 3 WR sets etc.. work the best (finesse plays include draws so will work against agg pass D). I also found that if my run game was suffering all other formations (standard/2TE) will work very well, I'm assuming this is against an aggressive run D as I was otherwise being stuffed, but don't expect anything much if they are playing read & react defense.

Note: I remember running tests when game planning and found that my average went up noticeably when I halved the finesse plays.

In my current career I'm using the recommendations as a guide and I've halved the recommended for I-Form, Strong, Weak and Pro figures, but left the others as they were pretty low to start with.

Aren't you supposed to change your formation setting based on what your quarterback knows?

It ignores any settings your QB doesn't know, but ideally yes.
