Will you be upset if... (FOF related)

(Assuming Jim is releasing anything at all. Also assuming that he is releasing a football game)

Will you be upset if Jim releases FOF2K(5 or 6) over TCY2? I see a LOT of people are pulling for TCY2. I notice this in a lot of different threads, ect. Personally, I hope it is a pro football sim. Although I like college football I would prefer pro football because in TCY I just sim all my games/seasons and let the AI do the handling/recruiting. I do this to get the rookies I want for FOF2K4.

I used to recruit, ect in TCY but I found that it was very time consuming. So now I just sim the seasons. I do, however, keep a database in access and track player stats outside of the game for TCY.

Upset? No. But FOF 2K4 is still extremely solid and fun to play. TCY, on the other hand, has been showing its age for a while now. So I think TCY 2 would be a better idea.

I am definitely hoping it will be TCY2. I mean, FOF 2K4 is rock-solid and how much improvement can really be done to it? TCY needs a lot of help though.

I am more of a Pro Football fan but I still have a blast playing my solo careers on FOF2 and multiplayer careers on FOF2004 so I can wait....

I think I'd rather see a TCY2.

Why ask this question? There is certainly no game in the near future coming out, so why even think about it?

There's nothing wrong with the question, everyone just seems to be an asshole around here lately.

Personally I'll be fine with any Solecismic release. Having said that however I feel that TCY 2 is the logical prodcut. The game feels dated compared to FOF2004 now.

Now on a personal level I'm much more into FOF than TCY, so maybe I wouldn't mind another FOF release.

And as for other sports....I'd be willing to give anything a shot.

I agree that TCY needs to be updated (needs a new fresh release). I mean, no matter what I will buy it if it is TCY2 (again, assuming that Jim releases anything).

I've stated this in another thread, I'd MUCH rather see the game be a new version of FOF. I think I'm in the minority though. I'll still buy TCY2 if that were the release.

I would be, because the incremental updates in FOF2k6 would leave little reason for me to buy that game. After FOF4 was such a huge disappointment (I felt there was nothing to compel playing that over 2001) I would likely not have purchased FOF5 unless it had the addition of the multiplayer feature. I don't see that game evolving much - there is little in the way of features that would improve the single player game for me very much, and the engine is so well advanced that improvements there would be incremental.

I will be extremely disappointed if it is not a football product or college basketball. I would certainly not buy a baseball game (unless there was an IHOB).

As for this:

I don't see how you can say this about Solecismic. To the neverending frustration of many, he does not announce games until they are very close to release. We could have a game as soon two weeks from today, or perhaps as late as two years.

I am hoping for TCY2 with multiplayer. I feel like my knowledge and enjoyment of FOF aren't enough to be in an online league, but if it were TCY I would join one in a heartbeat.

I'm hoping for something non-football. Don't have any real preferences, just something new instead of an update of one of the existing games.

Either that or a unified college/pro game where it's all ran in one universe.

- ability to turn scouting and coaches and financials "off"
- one default gameplan button that sets a default for all offensive situations (instead of having to go into each situation screen and clicking default gameplan button)
- improved AI handling of depth charts and roster moves when teams add FA in gameday export
- ability to save - when you close the game now, you lose everything (in MP)
- CSV exporting capabilities for draft classes and free agency

Actually, I want something that sets the default for each situation, not a recommend once and then "set all screens to this" solution.

Better put - a "global" recommend button.

that'd be handy. the way it is now - why would i want to hit recommend for goal line situation and transfer that gameplan as the default for 4th quarter when i'm ahead by a large margin situation?

I'd buy TCY2 the moment it came out if it was released first. If BBCF was released first, I'd wait to get opinions on it before I ever purchased it. The catch is, I wouldn't buy TCY2 if I bought BBCF first and it was holding me down.

My point is this is exactly what happened in 2003 with TPF. TPF was getting all the headlines with its prerelease press and screen shots, then bamo Jim made his little announcement, that btw...FOF2004 will be released in 2 weeks. Thus, Stealing the thunder of TPF. And, I might add, causing me to hold of on purchasing TPF; Thank God, if Jim hadn't come along I would of been one of the many to get burned by TPF's early years.

So, If there is going to be a TCY2, Jim will at least have to make an announcement of TCY2 before BBCF is released. The market for text sims is extremly small and a mojor part of that seems to be college student on very fixed incomes.

Has Jim ever announced a Failure? Maybe there was already a TCY2?

I am just curious as I have had a couple of my Advertising Campaigns go down in flames after spending over 4 months and countless dollars, simply because of bad testing.

No, but I'd be willing to be that something like age distribution in a forum this size would be *very* similar to age distribution in the audience as a whole. Plus, my impression is that the OOTP market is a little older than the FOF market, meaning that perhaps the "text sim market" is actually a little older than FOFC.

I don't care what, or when, Jim releases his next game. Solecismic has made good games so far, and would merit serious consideration if (1) the game is of interest to me, (2) initial reviews are good, and (3) if a variation of FOF or TCY, makes changes significant enough for me to purchase it.

Fixed.

Unless you meant e-license was a bore, but that's hard to believe with all the baby-sitting it usually requires.

I would normally say that I would buy both regardless, but both BBCF and any potential Solecismic release are going to have a tough time getting noticed if they are released after Civ4.
