Player Potential

Hi guys, wonder if you could help me with this question.

Why is it that some players get "stuck" below their maximum potential rating, and others realise their full potential. I've got a number of vets on my roster who are up to 6 points below their maximum potential, and just not improving. Anyone know why this happens?

Maybe your scout thinks they have more potential than they actually have?

or your scout just doesn't see that he really is fully developed at the potential rating

Hmm, would make sense, my scout isn't that hot.

I was wondering about, "can't teach an old dog new tricks" type thing. These guys are all 9 years plus. Just a thought.

Thanks for the thoughts anyway guys.

I think that, in general, if you have non-QB players who are beyond their first 3 years, and have gotten a fair share of playing time in games -- if they haven't developed to their potential, they probably never will. (QBs develop more slowly, but maybe the same goes at 5 years for them...though I'm more hesitant to close the door on a QB)

but there's instances like with Branum where he showed fully developed with Vicksburg and then when I got him he all of a sudden lost current (but not potential) which leads me to believe a lot of it is just scout error.
