Pitt v. Ohio

How is there not a thread on this yet? 5 minutes left in the game and ohio up by 3, 10 to 7. Pitt looks horrible absolutely horrible. Ohio got crushed by northwestern last week. Pitt still might have a good shot at going BCS this year though

edit: it's on the duece if anyone cares

Unbelievable... I think I know why the Raven's offense was so bad... Matt Cavanaugh.

The best example of not calling plays to your team's strength. They are not a good running team yet then run plays like they are the 2004 Steelers.

Amazing start passing more often and they move the ball. Although the "prevent" defense by Ohio doesn't hurt.

How do you not throw it in the endzone there? Classic. Overtime coming up. This might end 13-10 in 4 OT!

BTW in case anyone is wondering pitt ran back the opening kickoff for a TD. This FG was their first offensive points.

agreed, more bad play calling by Matt Cavanaugh.

I would like to see Wannstedt do well, but this team looks horrid. I'm VERY interested to watch the ND Michigan game tomorrow after this debacle by Pitt. I still think ND looks like they're for real, we'll have to see.

The problem is Pitt is trying to change their offensive personality before getting the players to fit their system. Seems like Pitt will be like Nebraska after firing Solich from 9-3 to 5-6.

Game just ended... pick 6.

While I am a Pitt fan first, I can be a little happy since my Parent's both went to Ohio U.

Great win for Ohio and another feather in the MAC's cap. If this had been BGSU or Toledo it wouldn't be that surprising, but Ohio was picked by most to be no better than a middle-of-the-road MAC squad. The conference had a rough go of it last weekend (although many of the losses were close) so its nice to see a good start for this week.

And Wanney moves on to wreck yet another team. I had flashbacks to his Bear days watching him on the sidelines. Couldnt happen to a better guy.

This might hurt Palko's Heisman hopes.

Anybody else think Walt Harris would have Pitt at 2-0 right now?

Excuse me, coach Cavanaugh... Coach Wannsted wants to see you. Bring your playbook.

which brings me back to my point when pitt showed so badly vs. notre dame. there are not a lot of great coaches so when you get a good one- (walt harris) hang on to him unless you can replace him with one of the great ones. i feel bad for wannstadt because you can't blame him for taking a job that was offered. but i have to believe that if he could go back a year in time, knowing how the first 2 games have gone, he would have taken a year off. i can't recall 2 worse losses in a row to a program that was supposed to be pretty good.

the only silver lining is that if wannstadt can somehow salvage this season he, at least, will have accomplished something of note as a head coach.

one other thing worthy off note is the standout gutsy performance of lb blades. i would somehow try to rebuild this team (pitt) around his character. he is a winner and possibly a great leader.

I only saw from late in the 1st quarter through the 2nd quarter, but it sure looked like (at that point at least) Pitt was much better off running the ball - they were busting out some big runs, and everytime Palko threw the ball it was picked-off.

Good for Ohio, good for Solich. Takes a bit of the luster off the Notre Dame win last week - we'll see how they manage against Michigan.

The interesting thing is that Frank Solich was interested in the Pitt job.
