pro formation vs weak formation vs strong formation

pro formation (normal) vs weak formation (normal) vs strong formation (normal)

is there really much difference between these formations, beside the fb and rb starting on different sides?

is there any advantage using one over the other?

No evidence to back this up, but I prefer the pro formation over the weak and strong formations. The pro formation is a better passing formation, except for when the weak and strong formations go to a 3 WR set.

I don't think there is much difference, personally.

strong and weak are considered neutral formations and pro is geared more toward the pass.

This is explained in the help file:

Quote:
The following basic formations are available:

I Formation varieties - the running back lines up behind the fullback, who lines up behind the quarterback. This formation is geared toward the run.

Pro Formation varieties - the running back and fullback line up on opposite sides of the quarterback. This formation is geared slightly toward the pass.

Weak I Formation varieties - the same as the I Formation, except the fullback moves a little toward the weak side (opposite the tight end). This is a neutral formation.

Strong I Formation varieties - the same as the I Formation, except the fullback moves a little toward the strong side (with the tight end). This is a neutral formation.

Single-Back Formation varieties - the fullback is replaced by a receiver, and the running back lines up behind the quarterback. This formation is geared slightly toward the pass. This formation is the one most often used with the quarterback in shotgun position.

Goal Line - the wide receivers are replaced by tight ends, and the backs line up on either side of the quarterback. The linemen stand closer together. This formation is used exclusively for very short yardage situations and is heavily geared toward the run.

It means that there is no distinguished use for it. You can equally run or pass from that formation.

It means the formation favors neither the run nor the pass, but is neutral.

Even though the strong and weak formations are neutral between run and pass, is there anything that indicates they are stronger running to the side the FB is lined up on, and weaker running to the side opposite the fullback.

Not sure that this would actually influence my gameplanning... just curious
